3rd person POV
selene had gone to bed that night without tory. they held beetle close to them as they slept softly and tiredly. selene was tired and alone for the moment. when they woke up, tory was gone and so was her family. selene didn't care that much though and they shrugged as they got up and left their room
they looked down at their phone and they noticed a text from someone and they opened it , it was demetri
'i had to get johnny a phone how weird is this' he said and selene laughed under their breathe
'he's trying ya'know' selene replied and they got up as they went and got dressed . they looked around before beetle walked into the room and jumped on the bed next to them
"this is never going to be easy isn't it?" selene asked and he barked at them as they lifted their hand and brushed the top of his head. he licked their hand before they looked at the door that was on the balcony
"let's go for a walk yeah, clear our minds" selene said and he barked at them
"let's go buddy" they stated and they got up as they hooked him onto his leash and walked out of the balcony with him. they walked down the stairs and started to walk around with him as they watched the sun rise and smelled the cool air. selene smiled under their breathe and kept walking
"selene is that you?" someone said and they lifted their head as they looked up and smiled
"maddie hi" they said and maddie smiled at them before they looked at beetle
"how are you here?" selene asked and maddie smiled at them
"dad wanted us to stay here this summer and i knew that you lived here, i missed you though. how have you been , miss fighter?" maddie asked and they sat down next to each other on the bench
"so you know about cobra kai?" selene asked
"no but i do know that you have always kicked ass since you could walk. you have always been a badass and there was no way that this new city and state was going to change you" maddie said and selene smiled
"thanks , it's um it's been hard. i moved away from mom and dad" selene said and maddie sheathed
"that bad?" maddie asked and selene nodded
"i got in a fight with both of them and they left but my girlfriend is staying with me now" selene said and maddie's eyebrows rose
"so what about max?" maddie questioned and selene seethed under their breathe and sighed
"he became an asshole, told everyone some fucked up lie after i tried to break up with him. i'm guessing you saw the video of the school fight" selene said and maddie scoffed
" i did, you kicked the shot out of max, it was kind of funny" maddie laughed and selene laughed too
"he deserved it alright" they said and maddie continued to laugh as she began to pet beetle and listened to selene laugh
"you haven't changed at all. you said girlfriend though, are you happy?" maddie questioned and selene shrugged
"that's the thing, she's part of cobra kai and i love her. she lives with me but i just . i don't know, i try to be happy but it's never actually enough for me" they ranted
"ah yes miss selene blackburns theory, you can't be too happy or it'll be taken away" maddie said
"you remember that?" selene asked and maddie laughed
"are you kidding? you never actually let yourself be in a truly happy relationship without worrying about life and what was going on" maddie sighed and so did selene
"i just , dad leaves and mom sucks . i can't ever be happy maddie. i move all the time and even when i am happy it gets ruined. i stopped letting myself be happy or feel happy because in the end, i won't be" selene sighed and maddie sighed with them
"that's what you think, you have to let your anger go selene. you deserve to be happy, after everything you have gone through, you of all people deserve to feel and be happy" maddie smiled and selene smiled back
"i missed you ya'know. you were the only person who ever cared or listened when i needed it. thank you for being you and being here maddie" selene thanked and maddie nodded as they smiled at each other again
"don't thank me selene, i love being your friend and being here for you. you're a good person, you always have been" maddie said and selene wrapped their arms around her as they held each other closely and didn't let go
for once selene felt comfortable with someone from their past, maddie knew them better then anyone. even miguel and tory, they trusted each other and then maddie's phone rang and so did selenes
they let go of each other and smiled as they picked their phones out of their pockets and read the messages
"i have to go but i'll see you around selene. i really did miss you" maddie said and selene smiled
"i missed you too maddie. i'll see you later" selene spoke and they got up as selene wrapped beetles leash around their hand and they left the bench
they smiled as they walked home . maddie made them feel at home, she made them feel comfortable and happy. selene walked into their house to see tory with her mom and brother
"oh hey" tory said and selene smiled
"hi, how is she?" selene asked and they both looked at the room that her mom was in and tory sighed
"she's fine as usual, how are you?" tory asked and selene sighed as they sat down on the couch and looked at the tv
"good actually, saw an old friend. i missed her though, we had a good talk" selene stated and tory smiled
"we're still okay right?" tory questioned
"yeah we're okay" selene said and they sat there on the couch together
but were they truly okay or were they lying to be?
