Chapter Fifty

~Healer's Office~

Amity's P.O.V

The school healer was making sure that Luz was alright after what Triplet did to her. She explained to me that Luz did go into fight or flight mode and that because of it she went into a state of shock.

Luz refused to let go of me even when the healer said that she needed to check her. My heart ached at how much she thrashed around and sobbed as she called out for me, telling me that she would be good and not let the healer take her away. The healer had to put a sleeping spell on her in order for them to check the injury on her wrist and to calm her down.

I was sitting down in one of the chairs by the door as I anxiously wait for the healer to let me be by Luz. Everything around me felt like pins and needles as I bounce my leg impatiently. Today was supposed to be a perfect day for Luz and I promised Eda that I would protect her but now...

My mind was all over the place and I couldn't think straight as it kept replaying the horrified look Luz had as Triplet dug her sharp nails into her wrist, making it bleed. I want nothing more than to destroy Triplet and make her suffer for hurting my sunshine!

My magic began to flare up once more but unlike the other times when I felt something holding it back, this time it was more free and unsteady. Like an uncontrollable river but the feel was short-lived as I felt a calming spell wash over me.

I look up at the school healer and quickly got to my feet," How is she?! Is she alright?!"

"She is alright Ms.Blight though... Do you mind explaining to me what exactly happened to Ms.Noceda-Clawthrone for her body to react so violently?"

I ran my fingers through my slightly messy green-dyed hair anxiously," Luz was about to walk over to our table during lunchtime and from where I could see her, she was super excited to tell me and our group of friends about her first half of the day of school but then Triplet came towards her and physically hurt her because she refused her invitation to her table."

The healer nods grimly and motions me to sit back down in my chair as she tells me about Luz's condition.

"I've seen many students during my time here at Hexside but Ms. Noceda-Clawthrone has to be my most delicate case, especially with who her mother and pseudo uncle are." She gently rubs her forehead in a tired yet sadden manner," She suffered through a minor PTSD flashback that later turned into a panic attack when I tried to gently take her from your arms. I have already notified the principal and he is calling your guardian to come to pick you two up."

I nod sadly and quickly went over to Luz, who was resting behind the light blue curtains. When I gently pulled back the curtain the sight that greeted me almost made me want to cry in relief.

Luz was curled up on top of the comfortable bed of the healing office with Sir Otterton in her arms as she snoozes away in dreamland. Her eyes were very puffy and kinda red from crying earlier and I could see the bandages that were wrapped around her small wrist just peaking out of her red sleeve.  

'She's safe...She is not in any danger anymore and soon she will be able to go back home.'

I quietly pulled out a chair and brought it next to her bed, making sure not to wake her as I gently brush her curly messy hair just like I did at our first sleepover. My heart fluttered a bit as Luz nuzzles her adorable face instinctively into my hand. 

'Sleep well sunshine, I'll be right here when you wake up.'

~Meanwhile: Principal Bumps Office~

3rd P.O.V

"Please forgive my disappearance Inspector, I had to deal with a student."

The inspector gave him a gentle smile and waved it off," It's no trouble Principle Bump, I completely understand. Now could we continue our small tour of the school and the introduction of the top students?"

Bump nods as he opens the door for the inspector," Right this way but I must tell you that our top student for abominations won't be joining us, unfortunately."

The inspector didn't seem to be listening as she watches each and every student walk past them as they made their way to the auditorium, where all the top students were waiting for them to demonstrate their magic in hope of getting more funds.

But that's not why the inspector was here. She was only here for one thing and one thing only. 

She was here for the amount of delicious magic that was just waiting for her to devour. She could feel herself mentally drool as they walked closer to the door where all the most powerful witchlings in this school would be.

After escaping the Emperor's Coven, she has been traveling throughout the Boiling Isles in search of her next meal. She had already devoured all the magic at St.Epiderm and Gladus High and now that she was at the prestigious Hexside, she couldn't wait to taste all the mouthwatering magical essences here. 

Just as she was about to step foot into the auditorium, her entire body froze as she sensed a massive influx of magic that she's never felt before. Her body was screaming at her to search for that magical energy and devour it and the body whole.

'Must find....must eat... MUST EAT!!!!!'

"Madame Inspector are you alright?"

The inspector snapped out of it and gave the Principal a calm smile," Yes yes, I am fine sir. Let's see what your most promising students have to offer and then I will see about getting the Emperor's Coven to raise the funds for this school!"

And with that, the both of them walk into the massive auditorium, though what Bump did not take into consideration was that as they walked down to the front row seats. The inspector was looking less and less humanoid as they get closer to the point some of the students on stage were getting extremely nervous but did not voice their opinion thinking that this was how the inspector normally looked like.

"Now Inspector!" Bump exclaims excitedly as he turns around," I hope that you find that our students..."

He couldn't finish his sentence as his eyes widened in horror as the inspector transformed into a massive serpent-like beast with razor-sharp teeth, frog-like eyes, and a tan scaly body.  It was about forty feet long and it overshadowed the principal and students as it rosed up to its full height.

"That your students and you will be my next meal!!!!"

Bump quickly turned around and yelled for the students to run away but it was too late, his magical essence was sucked right out of him as were the students' essences. The basilisk let out a satisfied burp and quickly slithered her way towards the door, smiling wickedly as she thought about all the yummy morsels just waiting for her to gobble up.
