Where and how you ask your subordinate out are very important factors to consider. Even if your subordinate is interested in you, he or she may have doubts or insecurities about approaching you, and so asking your subordinate out in the wrong place, time, or context could create tension or even animosity.

Capitano wasn't sure as to whether y/n even liked him in that way. Not to mention that this whole asking out thing was down right fear inducing.
And now Capitano has to worry about scaring y/n away?! Or even worse .. making y/n hate him?!
