Sad chapter ahead so grab your tissues

Ayla POV

I was cleaning out the living room when my phone rang. I went upstairs to go and get it, just too a call from an unknown number. I picked it up, whilst casually dusting the stairway when the woman said, 

"Good evening miss! Am I speaking to Mrs. Ayla Shehryar?"

"Yes! This is her!", I said, walking down the stairs

"My name is Dr. Audrey, and I work at Toronto General Hospital, it says here that you are registered as the emergency contact to Mr. Abbas Ullah, is that correct?", she said

My heart started beating rapidly, I sat down on the stairs

"Yes I am his emergency contact, wh-why is he at the hospital", I said trying to remain strong

"Mrs. Shehryar, it would be better if you could come to the hospital right now", she said

"Uh- yes okay okay, I'll come right this instant", I said

I ran to my room, grabbed my car keys and came back downstairs. I banged on the door to baba's study. Aunty opened the door looking extremely annoyed, but before she could say anything, I said

"Baba's at the hospital, we need to hurry up", I said

She lost all color of her face and quickly nodded, I went ahead and started the engine, whilst aunty came outside. I sped to the hospital and we rushed to the reception area. I asked the receptionist about baba and she directed me to the third floor and asked me to go to Dr. Audrey's room. I asked her about baba's information, but she just told me to go to Dr. Audrey's room and she'll give me more details on baba's case.

I went inside with aunty with me and we were sat down for about a minute when Dr. Audrey walked in 

"Hi. Are you Mr. Abbas's family?", she said

"Yes, I am Ayla, his daughter and this is his wife, Nagina", I said

"Ms. Ayla and Nagina you need to stay strong for me, I have some bad news for you." she said

I gulped down my saliva, "What's going on? Baba's okay right? He has to be", tears were now threatening to spill

"He was brought in earlier today, severely injured by a car accident, we immediately started treating him. His condition wouldn't stabalize, we did all we could but he had a cardiac arrest and passed away", she said looking sympathetic

My vision started getting all blurry, this could not happen, baba was supposed to be alive, he can't just leave me like this all alone, he's all I have in here. Ya Allah why! I burst out into tears and I looked up to aunty and she was crying as well. We hugged each other and the tears just kept spilling.

"I'm truly sorry. We tried our best!" said Dr. Audrey and walked outside giving us both space. Aunty told me that she needed to inform Saima baaji and Sania baaji whereas I should deal with Shehryar. I nodded and wiped my tears, picking up my phone, I dialed his number 

"Asslam Alaykum Ayla", I heard his voice say 

I couldn't keep it in, so I burst out a sob, "Ayla is everything okay? Why are you crying?", I heard the frantic voice of Shehryar 

"Shehryar  ba-baba" and I couldn't complete it, I was in denial of the fact that he wasn't amongst us anymore 

"Kya hua hai baba kou Ayla?", he said slowly pronouncing every word

I gulped down my tears and said, "Shehryar baba ka accident hua tha, he didn't make it, you need to come to Toronto General right now", saying this, I burst right back crying.
