Rains pov

I hated it, I hated her I hated the way she looked at me. Fucking stupid kid.

There she is, in that fucking room of hers just sleeping I think. I've known the kid since I was a kid, we use to play with each other's toys. She didn't recognize me that night out in the rain and for a few seconds, I didn't either until she looked up at me with those damn doe eyes.

I was snapped out of my thoughts by a shove to my shoulder. I looked to my side and saw my replacement standing by my side with his gun hung around his chest. "Alright, bitch." Row laughed as I rolled my eyes.

I walked to the front of the house and sat on the porch for my fifteen minute break. I inhaled a big puff of my cigarette and let it burn my chest for a bit before exhaling. I heard the front door open and I slowly turned my head and saw Angelo and Luca walking out of the house with a few files in their hands.

I kept my head down and continued to smoke, trying to be unseen by the eldest Leones. My tactic seemed to fail as Angelo walked past me and put his hand out. "Cigarettes, you're not even 21. Give 'em over." I fought an eye roll as I fished my last pack of cigarettes from my pocket.

I put them into Angelo's hand and he sighed. "We are going to be gone for a few hours, Nick will be here. Double shifts and more guns and protection for Evelyn. Do you understand?" I raised my head and nodded while muttering a 'yes sir.' With a quick nod, Angelo started to walk away.

All that talk meant was that there is probably going to be an attack soon. I hated that a part of me wanted to go inside and huddle around Evelyn's door to protect her from everything and everyone who posed as a threat. I hated it.

After a few hours, it was already around midnight and I was exhausted from walking back and forth and by just standing by the gate like a statue. I had to remind myself that I only have a few more hours before I get to crawl back home.

I turned towards the house and saw something flash from the side of the house. I quickly walked over the spot and raised my gun to make sure that the safety was off. As I got closer to the back of the house I was about to turn on my ear piece until I saw the 'intruder' sitting by a few trees.

There she was, Evelyn was sitting by a bunch of trees that hid her small body perfectly. I should call her brothers and tell them that she is out here, I should turn back around and walk back to my post.

"Ms.Leone, please go back into the house it's unsafe out here." I hated the way I said her last name, how it tasted bitter because I know she hates when I call her like that. To the sound of my voice, she uncurled herself from the ball she was in and looked up at me with the purest green eyes.

Green eyes that were filled with tears and fear. My heart squeezed but I had to keep a cold front as I spoke. "Get inside or I will tell your brothers." She shook her head at me and started to slowly lift herself from the dewy grass.

I started to walk closer to her as she started to back away. "I just need a minute. Please Rain." God damn that fucking nickname, making my heart squeeze. My heartbeat started to pick up as she look behind her as though she was planning on running.

I looked down and saw that she had no shoes on her feet. "No. Ms.Leone, it's not safe out here. Get inside." I tried to be gentle but my patience was wearing thin making my voice come out more snapper than what I intended. She has no shoes on and she is going to get hurt but yet she told me that 'give her a minute' bullshit.
