The Celestial Spirit King is a prideful being.

Since the day he came into existence, it is something he has been and something he will always be. And he has every right to be as prideful as he is. He is, after all, the ruler—the leader—of all Celestial Spirits and a powerful, timeless being. No matter how much it pains him, it is his duty to uphold the laws of the Spirit World and protect all of his citizens, even if it means banishing one of them.

As the time changed from when he and the rest of the Spirits were created, he remained the same.

A prideful being; a leader; an enforcer of the laws that exist to protect them all; and uptight to a fault.

However, the same cannot be said about the rest of the Spirits, especially the Twelve Zodiac. While the Celestial Spirit King stayed unchangeable, Spirits started developing their own unique personalities and views once wizards started summoning them.

The Spirit King was fine watching over all of this and making sure that all of his citizens stayed safe and rule abiding.

Until one day, a cheeky, mortal wizard decided that he was above the laws of the Spirit World and came up with an entirely different way of summoning him, The Spirit King himself. Needless to say, once he was summoned without having the proper procedures of a golden key being broken, he was furious.

At first, he didn't know what the emotion he was feeling was. He was a being that rarely expressed any emotion at all, preferring to stay stiff and alert at all times. The few times he has felt emotions it was akin to joy, happiness or sadness. Never before has he felt the anger that coursed through him at that moment. Never before did he ever think his stiff, sturdy, unchangeable exterior could ever be broken and by a mere wizard, too.

Then, he hadn't known, but it would be the first of many firsts that would soon change him into the being he is now.

All because of a confident and unorthodox wizard by the name of Solomon.

"Lucy Heartfilia, I have a favour I must ask of you."

For the first time in a very long time, he met someone similar to his old friend. Someone who, like Solomon, acted in... unique ways with her treatment of Spirits. Like him, she too summoned him without breaking one of her golden keys. She just expended so much raw magic that all  of her numerous silver and gold spirits were called out at the same time. All to save one of his own whom he banished for killing his master (regardless of how much she deserved it).

That was probably what drew him into liking her in the beginning as well—how different she was from other Celestial Spirit Wizards but so similar to Solomon.

Now, she too has ventured into a world almost parallel to her own, not to mention how she found Solomon's son, a being he didn't even know existed until she came in close contact with him and he could feel a piece of Solomon in him through the keys. The nostalgia that washed upon him after Lucy was just on the same boat as him confirmed it.

He had been watching her closely after everything that happened with her guild. While he didn't know the specifics about it, he could tell from all of her summons that everyone was worried about her. So while he shouldn't be acting so biased towards a single wizard, Lucy is his friend and he is worried about her.

But he is also a selfish being. Something he didn't even realize about himself until recently.

Lucy, his current only human friend, is close to the only legacy of his very first friend. Acting on his own desire for the first time in a long, long time, he requested to meet with her. To ask her a favour. One he knew she wouldn't refuse. She would never refuse a favour from any spirit.
