Chapter 21

"In the past, the Human Realm was on peaceful terms with the forest ruled by the Fairy King. But it wasn't necessarily a symbol of friendship, I believe it was also an unspoken agreement of non-intervention" King narrates as he looks out onto the Fairy Tree years back. "At the time, I had lost my memory. All I could recall was a great impact, and that man's face. Who that man could be... and even who I was myself... I had forgotten everything-" his talking gets interrupted by a girl's voice

"Harlequin!"

"Monsters?" He shrieks and the voice giggles "Surprised? Let's have dinner!" The voice turns out to be Diane's, but it's a smaller Diane.

"And I was living with that Giant child who had saved me"

"I made grilled pork and... steamed pork! Have lots, okay?" Younger Diane speaks

"No thanks, I'd rather have fruit..."

"Yeah? Then I'll have it! But to have a dream about sleeping, while you're sleeping... you must really love sleeping! Did anything come back to you?"

"I seemed to be looking at a big tree from a strange place"

"Was that where you used to live, Harlequin?"

"Maybe..." Two rock people things walk up to the two

"Here! Fillet and Roast, you'll have dinner, too!" Younger Diane says to them, that she makes two mud balls appear out of the ground

"But I never knew you could create Golems, Diane. Though they do say that Giants have a strong connection to the earth..."

"I'm all alone and always wanted friends, so I think that's why I can make them now" She says with her mouth full "But these guys can't talk, and they only do what I say... that's why I'm glad I met you, Harlequin!"

"Same here! If you hadn't saved me when I was knocked out by the river, who knows what would've happened"

"Then! Then, someday will you be my friend?" She asks happily, blushing

"Whaddya mean? We became friends ages ago" He chuckles while rubbing the back of his neck

"Really?" She gets close to his face

"Yeah"

"I'm giving you this!" She holds up the steamed pig to him "Because we're friends!"

"Oh, hey, no pork for me" He waves his hand in front of his face

"But it's yummy! Just have a bite!"

"I'd lost my memory, but that was a happy time for me. That may be why I'd settled down there. Not knowing what had happened during that time..."

"Where could she be? I thought she said..."

"Harlequin! Down here!" She waves from the ground next to a human

"Well, I'll be darned! Are you a fairy child?" The human asks "It's unusual enough just to see a Giant girl!"

"Diane, let's go"

"That Human was giving you some food?" King asks as a pot of some food boils over a fire

"That's right. He said it's pheasant, mushroom, and nut soup" She says as she points the food to his mouth, letting him sip the soup and then taking a drink for herself

"Listen, Diane, you really shouldn't trust Humans"

"Why not"

"Well, because..."

"Why shouldn't we trust humans?" Diane's and another's voice merges

"Because, year after year they fight with their own kind over silly matters, year-round!" King says
