It's so amusing when people realize English is not my first language

"Life isn't always what you think it'd be
Turn your head for one second and the tables turn
And I know, I know that I did you wrong
But will you trust me when I say that I'll
Make it up to you somehow, somehow."

As he stared at the screen ahead of him, Taehyung couldn't help but wonder how his life had taken such a drastic turn in such a short amount of time. Merely two weeks prior, everything had been normal. He was a top tier surgeon with a successful career and a not so successful life—he used to be happy. Or at least he thought he was. Going back home, to his apartment that didn't even feel like home because Taehyung barely slept there, felt like a blessing but now, after really thinking about it, Taehyung realizes that even if his career had been successful, he was never happy.

Of course, his dog brought him lots of joy but Taehyung couldn't say he had been happy in that life of his. His home was cold, mostly empty and lacking and personal touches, and he was sure his cleaning lady and Yeontan's nanny spent more time there than him.

He wondered if his dog was doing alright, if asking Jimin to take care of him for the time being had been a bad move or not?

He could've asked Seokjin to get Yeontan for him but, as much as he missed his dog, Taehyung was sure that place was not pet friendly. And there was enough stress on his shoulders as it already was.

Shaking his head, Taehyung pressed the remote and watched as the image on the screen changed.

"This is the weapon room. It's heavily guarded." Seokjin spoke from besides him, Taehyung nodding as he pressed the button again. "This is the underground passageway for crisis situations."

Letting the remote fall on the table, Taehyung pressed his hands in his hair and sighed. Eight days had passed since Jeongguk's surgery and the man was still under anesthesia. His body was reacting well to the surgery but he was yet to wake up. In the meantime, not wanting to lose his mind, Taehyung had asked Seokjin to help him get accustomed to the building that was to be his temporary home. The man had been skeptical at first but Namjoon had provided them with a piece of paper on which Jeongguk's writing and signature could be seen.

"Kim Taehyung owns complete control over my responsibilities and belongings for the time being."

Something in his heart had made a violent twist at that because, even while in severe pain, Jeongguk had thought about offering him control over the most important people in the country. The paper had been signed a few days before the surgery was to take place which meant that, even before then, Jeongguk had been planning to let Taehyung lead.

Maybe it was a test or maybe it was just blind trust.

Taehyung wanted to believe it was a test because, even if Jeongguk trusted him enough to let the whole situation into his hands—he did not. He didn't trust himself, nor did he trust his skills and intelligence. Now that he knew the real reasoning behind his grandfather's schemes, Taehyung couldn't help but believe that he could never follow into Jeongguk's footsteps.

He wasn't sure he wanted to anyway. Not when the said man had done everything in his power to make sure he'd never walk the same path as him.

Letting out a sigh fall past his lips, Taehyung raised his head and looked Seokjin in the eye. The man was once again dressed in a rather extravagant suit—this time bright green. Taehyung couldn't understand how the other looked good in each color he wore but he figured it was some type of innate talent of his—to charm his way into anyone's heart.
