As I sift through the ashes
there's not much to save
My heart has grown weary
My memory is scathedIt's a bittersweet pill
I gag at the taste
I swallow it whole
and digest it for daysIt's never that easy
To let it all go
It builds up inside me
while I prepare to implodeMountains will crumble
into the sea
as rivers overflow
within me
and leave me betrayed
and besiegedRepressed memories
overtake me
I sink down
and almost drown
It's a perilous journey
with no time to back downThe rebel within me
Is now a warrior and strong
I'll surrender to no one
and win this war on my ownAll Rights Reserved
