"Put me down now; I can walk, Lex," I whined, pouting as he carried me into his room. Why did he love picking me up all the time? I know I'm... clumsy. But who's going to make this big bear understand that I need to learn to walk on my own?
"You know you're clumsy, right?" he whispered, his voice low, not unkind but firm.
I huffed as he gently set me on the bed. I bent down to pull off my shoes, my wide lilac eyes scanning the room. His dark-red-and-black-themed space was incredible—bookshelves lining the walls, a plush couch tucked in the corner, and behind his bed, a wall of glass framing the sky outside.
"Okay, blink. You'll hurt your eyes," he said, pinching my nose. I giggled and fell back on the soft mattress, staring at the clear, endless sky above.
"Thea," he murmured, standing over me, placing two thick books on the bed beside me. "Baby, you shouldn't be this defenseless in front of anyone—especially a guy." He tugged lightly at my dress, and I sat up with a frown.
"What do you mean?" I asked, tilting my head, blinking at him like he had lost his mind. He hesitated, muttered something, and walked toward a cabinet. I pouted. Classic Lix. He always says things that leave me confused.
I sighed, bored. I had come here because I didn't want to be alone, but he was busy with work. My eyes drifted to my teddy, proudly propped against the bedpost.
"Teddy!" I squealed, hugging him tight and rolling onto my stomach. "You're so cute, right?" I whispered, pinching his cheeks, making him nod. I laughed and pecked his nose.
"Not cuter than you," Lix said, sitting beside me and setting the books on the mattress. I squinted at him and giggled when he made a silly face.
I leaned closer to see the black book in his hands. De.Seto.
"What's this?" I asked, curiosity bubbling.
"It's about the highest-ranked demons, including Lucifer," he explained, pinching my cheek gently. My lips pursed as I peered over his arm, eyes widening at the detailed drawings of terrifyingly powerful demons. Knights, fighters, protectors—all massive, formidable, and scary.
Then I saw their human forms. Jaw-dropping. Handsome, sharp-featured men, powerful even in human guise. I was staring mindlessly until I reached one page that made my heart skip.
His name glared at me in bold letters: Sirius Xhenaro Fortebracci.
I traced his picture with my finger. Dark hair, piercing eyes, a smirk that screamed dominance. Dangerous, scary... and breathtaking.
"He's the highest-ranked demon," Lix said softly as I leaned against his chest. "Created by Lucifer using the powers of every other demon. His job is to protect Hell and lead it. His wings... the biggest of all demons, even Lucifer. Black with red edges. His sword and his three-headed steed... terrifying."
I hugged my teddy tighter. "He's... handsome," I whispered, blushing. Lix chuckled softly.
"No matter how good-looking he is, he's not good news," he murmured, picking me up before I could ask more questions.
"So... nobody can defeat him?" I asked as he carried me down the stairs to the kitchen.
"In reality, it's impossible," he said, "but there's a weapon with the power of both Hell and Heaven that could hurt him if he ever lost control."
He placed me on the counter and ruffled my hair. "Now, forget about him for a while. What do you want for lunch?"
"Pizza!" I squealed, pushing his hands away.
"Cool," he replied with a smile, gathering ingredients.
Humans are weird, I thought. In this Mystic world, everything looks like the human realm—cars, buildings, TVs—but angels and demons are real, and some have even visited the human world, bringing back strange ideas.
Still, I couldn't stop thinking about that demon lord... Sirius. Nice name, though.
