Chapter 84

Although Jungkook was very moved, he did not forget to counsel Lisa. "Lili, don't really go and beat Minnie."

"Why? You feel bad for her?"

"No, I just don't want you to be dragged down by this matter as well. After all, deliberately injuring another person is a crime, even if the other party is a vegetable. Don't worry. A gentleman can even wait ten years for proper revenge. Even if the police can't find any evidence to arrest him, I'll remember this and there will be plenty of chances in the future to get payback. But no matter what, I don't want you to take the risk."

"Fine. Don't worry, I was just scaring him anyway. It's all about attitude. Attitude, you understand?"

He smiled and grazed her nose. "Understood."

In the afternoon, the police called Jungkook to apologise for what happened with Bambam. Even though Bambam was a major suspect... they just could not find any evidence. The bureau had even used a lie detector on Bambam to no avail.

However, the next day, the police called again. They told Jungkook that Bambam had already turned himself in and confessed to the crime of hiring others with the intention to harm.

The case was resolved — the public condemned the 'suspect-Bambam' reported by the bureau, and Lisa's heart finally settled back into her ribcage. She no longer had to worry about someone jumping out of the shadows to harm Jungkook.

Jungkook's life while being treated did not change much during all this. The only change was the content of the stories Uncle Kang told him every day. This uncle switched freely between his two identities of 'con artist' and 'miracle doctor', actually coming up with seven epic emotionally-laden love stories. Jungkook listened to them with relish, while Lisa was reduced to a puddle of tears by them. She felt that both Jungkook and herself were about to be driven mad by these stories.

On the 12th day after Jungkook was injured, Dr. Xu did an x-ray on Jungkook. When the results came out, Dr. Xu was ecstatic. "Jungkook, callus has already grown around the injury site!" He clucked as he shook his head. "It's miraculous! Not even two weeks!"

Generally speaking, the growth of a callus around a bone injury was the most crucial step in recovery. Once a callus had grown, the plaster cast could be removed. Of course, the removal of the cast did not mean the injury was completely healed yet. For that to happen, the callus had to settle and finish being remodelled into bone. Frankly, Jungkook had been lucky. He had managed to dodge a little when he had been hit. Even though he did not manage to avoid injury completely, much of the force behind the blow had been diverted, which was why he had only ended up with a fracture and not a broken bone. The fracture was also a relatively minor one, and so could recover relatively quickly. Furthermore, he was very young and was in good physical condition.

Even so, for a callus to grow in in less than two weeks was still a small miracle. If they had relied on Dr. Xu's treatment plan, this would be inconceivable even under the most optimistic estimations. Dr. Xu could only marvel at the wonders of traditional medicine, whilst also feeling a little regretful that he could not learn it. Honestly, what era were they living in now? Still only passing the knowledge onto men and not women. If the next few generations only produce daughters, would all these ancestral treasures end up in coffins?

After the cast was removed, Dr. Xu administered a strength test on Jungkook. When all indications confirmed he was ok, Dr. Xu let Jungkook leave with the x-rays.

Jungkook hugged Lisa while still holding the film. He smiled and said, "I can finally hug you with both arms."

Boo hoo hoo, why was she moved by such a normal sentence...?
