The morning that Hermione and Draco were supposed to go on their date to Hogsmeade Hermione woke up and smiled as she started on her list.
'He has money
He is good at potions
He can do Occlumency, which is incredibly difficult and hard to master
He didn't give Harry away at the Manor
He didn't have the heart to kill Dumbledore
He loves his mother
He didn't defend his father when he was being tried
He came back to finish his schooling
He's a fair flier
He has nice hair
His eyes are a pretty shade of blue
He didn't have a choice
He stopped fighting
He didn't bother me right away when we were paired together
I like his smile
He is intelligent
He likes that I am a good witch
He made an effort to have lunch with my friends
He respects me
His smirk is cute sometimes
He doesn't make me nervous
I like Draco Malfoy
He answered the questions I have been wondering about truthfully
He thinks I deserve as much time as I need to feel comfortable being with him
He makes me laugh
He is making an effort to change
He has shown me that I can trust him
This morning it was easy to think of something, she had honestly been looking forward to going with Draco today. To spend time with one another. She was finally feeling confident enough to want to be around him for more than just a little bit of time at once.
I am excited to go on a date with Draco'
She figured this wasn't exactly something she liked about him, but she knew that it meant she was coming around to the idea of having ended up with Draco. At least she could look and talk to him without feeling like she was going to have a complete mental breakdown. She figured it would probably take way more time to feel completely happy, but she had to keep reminding herself that she didn't have to be ready when the Ministry said she did. Draco had told her that. They could do what they were told, but they could work through everything else together. To their own timeline.
"Hermione, were you planning on getting out of bed this morning?" Ginny was standing at the end of Hermione's bed looking increasingly impatient.
"What?"
"I thought you wanted me to help you get ready to go? I would like to have some breakfast at some point today." Ginny cracked a small smile at her friend.
"Right. I'm sorry Ginny I was just thinking."
"About Draco?"
"Well, yes actually. I think I might actually be excited for this."
