2022, Apr 11 - Jungkook (How A Phone Call Saved Me)

(A/N: Loop #1. Please read Seokjin's part on how he get Jungkook into his home. This one was when Seokjin left Jungkook on his room while looking at the pictures.)

One of the photos in the box he left me with catches my eyes.

(A/N: Throwback to June 12 Year 19.)

"It's the ocean!" Hoseok hyung and Taehyung-ie hyung start cheering and jumping around at the sight of the ocean.

The others also see and rush forward. Even Yoongi hyung smiles as he scolds everyone from running in this heat.

Taehyung: Jungkook-ah!

The others calling to me, waving their hands. I wave exaggeratedly back at them. Even though I'm not quite used to showing my emotions to others. A new side of me that even I didn't know I had comes out when I'm with them.

Taehyung: Jungkook! Hurry up!

Yoongi: Go to them.

Like right now, where I'm suddenly running towards them as they call me.

Hoseok: Wow, this is great! It makes my heart beats fast.

Namjoon: Coming here was a good idea, huh?

Taehyung: Can we try going in the water?

Namjoon: How are you going to dry yourself off?

Taehyung: Did we come all the way to the ocean just to look? Jimin-ah, how about it?

Jimin: I... don't really want to go into the water.

Taehyung: Wow, everyone's so boring!

Hoseok: *Wham!*

Taehyung: Augh! Don't push!

Hoseok: Why, you said you wanted to go in!

Taehyung: Yaaa!

I watch them from a few steps away.

"You're not gonna go in?" Yoongi hyung walks over to me.

I shake my head no. The ocean is beautiful and everyone looks like they're having fun, but somehow I feel that there isn't a place for me there.

"Do you want to go here?" Hoseok hyung holds up his phone screen for the others to see as we cool off in the shade.

A picture of a large boulder by the shore is displayed on the screen. "Legends says that if you climb on top of this boulder and yell your dream out to the ocean, it'll come true."

Yoongi: In this scorching sun? No, thanks.

Yoongi hyung turns around to express his refusal, but...

Taehyung: I wanna go!

Thanks to an ambitious Taehyung-ie hyung, we walk about 3.5km on the hot, sunbaked sand.

Hoseok: Weird, it's supposed to be near here.

Taehyung: What? There's nothing here.

The boulder is nowhere to be seen when we arrive. Everyone collapses to the ground in disappointment. I also feel zapped of energy upon hearing that the boulder isn't here. But I'm not as disappointed as they are. Just walking here with them is enough for me.

I get up on the pier railing instead of sitting next to the others. I've always liked walking on the edge of walls or on top of lines. Focusing on centering my gravity means that I don't really think of anything else, and the boundary - not quite a part of either place - always felt like where I should be.
