I slowly wake up in my dark room and I move my forearm off my face.
"Damn. Almost forgot Eve wanted to take me and get some more clothes." I think to myself as I slowly sit up, "Guess I need to get up and face this fire."
The night before
"Y/N, you need more than just... those rags." Eve says leaning against my bedroom door, "And are all of those necessary?"
"It's my arsenal, of course they're all necessary." I say as I adjust the scope on my Barrett, "Anyways, I don't need a lot of clothes."
"If you're going to be our bodyguard then you need to look presentable, darling." She says pushing off my door and walking towards me, "We'll leave in the morning."
Present
"Y/N, I know you're up." Eve says before my door opens and she leans on the door frame in just an oversized shirt, "Do you know what time it is?"
"It's seven in the morning." I say getting off my bed, "I just need a few minutes and I'll be ready."
"I'll give you ten more minutes. So you might want to get going." Eve says as I grab some clothes.
Twelve minutes later
Well I know I went over ten minutes but at least she didn't barge into the bathroom and drag me out while I'm naked, I just physically shuddered at that thought.
Eve knocks on the door before just opening it and walking in, "What the hell, Eve?!"
"You're dressed so let's go." Eve says grabbing my hand.
"I've got to get some socks and shoes." I say as she drags me out of the bathroom.
Ahri's POV
"Has anyone let Mundo know?" Kai'sa asks before handing me a cup of coffee, "Because I'm sure if he doesn't-"
"Mundo knows." Mundo says as he appears, "Eve already informed Mundo an hour after you hired him."
"Well that's-and he's gone." I say before looking at Akali, "Have they left yet?"
"I dunno." Akali says shrugging her shoulders, "What're they doing today anyways?"
"Eve wanted to buy him some new clothes and a new phone." I say before sighing, "She's only talked to me about him once before all of... this."
"Really? What'd she say about him?" Kai'sa asks as she leans on the counter.
"Not much, just that he was mainly a loner and that at first she-" I was saying before stopping myself when I hear their footsteps, "Never mind about that."
Y/N's POV
"We'll be back in a while." Eve says as we walk through the kitchen, "Don't forget you have that interview today, Akali."
"Yeah, sure." Akali says and Eve stops, "I'll be there, sheesh."
"Good." Eve says before she starts walking to the front door, "Come on, Y/N."
"Sure." I say walking away from the others and towards Eve, "Maybe no one noticed the pistol."
"We're taking the Superbird out again." Eve says grabbing the keys off a hook on the wall.
"You do know I'm broke right? My fixer took every bit of my money that night, must've done it to save her own ass." I say before we walk out and I sigh, "I'm already indebted to you enough as it is."
Eve stops and turns around to face me, "Y/N, you know that's-"
"Eve, you've helped me enough getting this job and giving me a place to stay." I say interrupting her, "So why are we really going out?"
"I... just want to spend some time with you and catch up." She says after looking me in my eyes.
"She's not lying at least." I think to myself before smiling, "Let's get going then."
40 minutes later
"Just ignore any questions or comments that get thrown towards us." Eve says after parking the car, "Well at least until we get to where we're going."
"Sure thing." I say as I get out, "And where exactly is that?"
"Top floor, exclusive access only." She says and I whistle.
"Fancy." I say when she gets out.
"Comes with the lifestyle." She says grabbing her purse, "We could act like-"
"No." I quickly say, "You know that would look really unprofessional since you're my boss now."
"Meh, paparazzi will just assume it anyways." She says as we start walking to the entrance of the mall, "Might as well play it up for the camera."
I let out a sigh, "Fine. But only just this once."
"Deal." She says smiling and pushing up her shades, "Speaking of the sharks..."
"Evelynn, Evelynn, who's the new boyfriend?" One woman asks before her photographer takes a picture of us.
"He doesn't look like your type." A man says as we get inside.
"Don't retort... don't retort." I think to myself as we speed up our pace to get to the elevator.
We finally get to the elevator and thankfully it was already there. We get on and I immediately push the 'close' button.
"Thanks for keeping whatever you wanted to say inside." Eve says after the doors close, "Glad to see that you've-"
"I'm not like him anymore." I say interrupting her about my past, "He died the way he lived, at the end of the barrel of a gun. I'm trying to be better than that now."
Hey guys, author here, hope y'all enjoyed this chapter even if it's slightly shorter than what's been put out. As for me, if y'all'll excuse me, I'm going to get some sleep now since I just got off night shift and I'm gonna try to enjoy my two days off... maybe this time I'll sleep past seven hours.
But until the next chapter, have a good one and be safe.
