WE ARE RUDELY AWAKENED BY MY ALARM. I sigh and Lita groans, rolling over and tries to go back to sleep. And as much as I want to as well, we can't.

I take a glance at the electric alarm clock sitting on my bedside table. It read 4:30am, and it's way too early, unfortunately my flight was the only one with seats still available, and I can't miss it.

The past 24 hours have truly been a dream, I dream I don't want to wake up from. "Lita, my darling, it's time to get up. Wakey wakey." I tell her, gently stroking her hair. Again, she groans and buries herself further, if that's possible, into my side.

"No. If I wake up, that means you have to leave. I don't want you to leave." I hear her mumble and she's right.

"I'm sorry but I have to. I wish I could stay as well. Unfortunately, that's not possible for now." I push myself off and get up, leaving Lita on the bed on her on. She pouts like a toddler, but it's nothing I can't fix. I quickly kiss her lips, and it's almost like nothing happened. I go into the bathroom and quickly do my skincare with whatever I can find around, the main products that I use still being somewhere in my suitcase.

When I get out, I'm dressed and so is Lita.

HA! I knew it'd work!!

Then we have to wake up the little monster. Let me tell you she wasn't pleased to wake up at five in the morning, and even less happy when she remembered where we're heading. She almost immediately bursts into tears... It's gonna be a tough morning.

While I get Rose dressed into sweatpants, so she can go back to sleep in comfy clothes later, Lita decided she wanted to be in charge of making us a small breakfast. When Rose and I emerge from her room, the strong smell of coffee hits my nose and I see Lita setting two cups on the dinner table next to what looks like a peanut butter sandwich from here.

We eat mostly in silence. I mean, firstly we're all still pretty much in a daze, half asleep, and secondly what is there to talk about?! All I want to hear is them trying to convince me to stay, because if one of them just ask I think I'll cave a millisecond later... But they both know I can't do that.

We finally leave the flat when mom texts me she's downstairs. She's the one driving us to the airport, only because Rose is gonna stay with her until I come back. It's just more practical.

Sorry mom, I didn't mean for you to wake up a 4:00.

Lita sits at the front, kindly leaving me to sit with Rose in the back. I sit right next to her car seat and let her hold my hand. She's holding onto me so tight, both the hands wrap around only one of mine. I tried getting her to let go one second, so I could scratch the back of my other hand, and let me tell you if a look could kill–

We get to the airport way too quickly for my liking. It's pretty empty though thank God. I carry Rose through, while Lita and mum have my suitcase and bags. I get as much Rose cuddles as I can get until we reach the gates. They can't go further than this.

I set Rose down but she fights me. Not that I blame her though, I'm pretty sure I'd have a similar reaction. "Don't leave us mama." She starts to cry.

"Aw Rosie." She lets me set her down, and I quickly kneel to hug her. "Mama has to leave for work. I'm sorry. I'll be back so, so soon though. Just a few weeks alright?" I cup her cheeks, leaving kisses on her forehead as I talk.

"But who's gonna read me bedtime stories and... and–" She's getting worked up. She's crying, forgetting to take deep breaths and stutters.

"Hey, shhh breathe baby." We take deep breaths together, she calms down in a matter of minutes, still crying but not as much as earlier which is good. I dont' think I can get her to stop crying completely anyway. "When I'm back we'll have a mommy daughter day just the two of us, and we'll do whatever you want to do. And maybe if you ask Lita nicely you can still see her and do things together." As soon as the words leave my mouth, Rose's head snaps to the brunette standing behind her. "Julie's birthday is soon, and I'm sure she'd love to see you at her birthday party!" Lita tells her. That would be nice, and it could give Rose a break from the city... and it could give my mother a break from Rose.
