Chapter 14

Deuteronomy 1:

21: See, the Lord your God has given you the land. Go up and take possession of it as the Lord, the God of your ancestors, told you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.

Preface

Fear makes a past-now people. Faith shifts us to a future-now perspective. Our dreams, goals are our vision for the future, without which we'd die. (Proverbs 29:18)

Dreams, goals are revelations provided by God. Let go of the past, of fear, and take possession of our goals now.

All life goals come with their specific, inherent challenges, obstacles and difficulties to overcome. All life commitments reveal specific insecurities, weaknesses and ignorances within us. The former are tailor made to address and correct the latter. In this way the inside is made to align with the outside.

But fear sees only the difficulties, losing sight of the goal.

Faith sees only the goal realized, projecting vision over, under, around, through the obstacles, being thwarted by nothing on the way toward crossing the finish line.

There's a chasm between excuses and reasons. On one side, fear blames and retreats. On the other side, faith takes responsibility and moves forward.

The more we choose faith, the more we feed it. The bigger, stronger it becomes. It becomes habit forming, making us better at choosing it.

This works the same way with fear.

But with faith strengthened, perseverance increases. The mind and body changes; they see and feel differently. They become empowered. Challenges become life coaches. Obstacles become fun friends. And difficulties become our most inspiring teachers. (Romans 5: 3-4)

They're all angels sent by God getting us ready and able to walk into the promised land--our dreams come true.

Our dream is our dream because it was given to us. We're being told to "go up and take possession of it." In faith, God guarantees success. It may not happen quickly. It's not going to happen without some difficulty. But it is going to happen, as long as we stay the course.
