"It's just not right. I can't draw him without a reference and what am I supposed to do there? I can't just go up to the captain and ask if I can draw him for hours." I groan, Armin is listening carefully to my complaints while I sit on his bed, leaning my head against the headboard.
"Well, I'm sure there'd be an instance where you can draw him. Think, during a meeting which is just long enough for you to get basic lines and shading, or during the night while he's doing paperwork. I'm sure you'll find a way." He responds. Armin is the only person I've trusted with my feelings since coming here, and he is also the only one I'm ever going to be willing to tell about my feelings towards the captain. "You have many sketches of Levi in your sketchbook, don't you?" He asks, reaching over to my book and flipping through it silently.
He reads the notes I've left on all my drawings of him, where It needs work, the scenery and all the comments and erased lines of it just not being right.
"See, this one for example, you did this in the mess hall, right? You used him as a reference from our table and he never noticed, just try that again!" He says in a last ditch attempt to lighten my mood.
"Yeah but Armin, what if he finds it." I say, because if he does find it and finds out about my weird obsession with him he'll be freaked out, kicked off the squad and if not that at least brought down from my role of second in command of the squad.
"If I were him I'd be flattered." He responded, but a comment like that from Armin is somewhat untrustworthy because of just how kind he is.
A sudden knock on his door makes our conversation come to a quick halt.
"Arlert, do you know where L/n is?" Levi says in his typical, cold demeanor. Just another reason to fall for the rat-bastard.
"Uh, yes sir! She's in here." He says. Levi opens the door and softens his gaze as he looks at me.
"Erwin wants a meeting with all of our squad, come on both of you." He said, slightly softer than before. We both nod and he closes the door behind him. We stand up and I grab my sketchbook and pencil, making my way to Erwin's office with the book, and Armin, in tow.
The meeting is boring, as always, it's always just the next missions, his formation, Hange's experiments on Eren, Eren. I start to get really bored around the hour mark and I decide that now is the time I can draw Levi, because he's still, and handsome right now.
I pull out my sketchbook and pencil form under the table and start sketching guidelines, glancing up every once and a while to look at my reference. I zone out while sketching some lines until I feel a tap on my shoulder from Mikasa.
She whispers something that I don't understand and when I look at her in confusion she whispers again "That's really amazing, why Levi?"
"No reason." I lie.
She turns back to the meeting and so do I, tucking the sketchpad away under the chair and quickly sticking the pencil in my hair (/behind my ear).
The meeting finally concludes and we all dismiss, but I leave without something. I leave without my sketchbook.

"Shit, shit, shit!" I scream out while pacing back and forth in my room. "I left it! Erwin must have found it and told Levi!" I panic, Armin tries to calm me down but to no avail.
"Just ask if you can run in and look for something, you'll be fine." He says while hugging me.
"No but-" I start to say, but a knock at my door stops me dead in my tracks.
