Based on a song, Reader is also from the underground but it's not important, she's also a badass.

You stood next to Levi as Erwin explained his grand plan. The sobbing recruits looked like whimpering children, begging for food, a sadly familiar site for you.

Their faces remained shocked and hurt, in a way you felt empathy for them, their mental outcries dug an even deeper hole in your heart. But no matter the tragedy of the situation, disobedience would not be tolerated.

A cowardly bastard fell to the ground in tears, a boy you recognized to be one of the new recruits in Klaus squad, Floch Forster. His shrieks brought havoc to your ears.

Originally you hadn't planned to do anything, but after the kid started disobeying the commander, there was nothing else to be done.

"I thought I'd be some kind of a hero.." The rookie cried "I didn't get it, I didn't know, I thought that if I died it would at least have some meaning! But it wont. It didn't for the others gone. I bet everyone ends up having the same final thought... I was stupid for coming here, why did I think I'd be different?"

You slowly left Levi's side and walked over to the rookie. No one had ever seen you so... emotionless? Usually your perky and witty attitude made its way into everything... but now you just seemed empty.

Suddenly, you lifted him by the collar and punched him, straight in the face.

And no one tried to stop you.

"What are you fighting for?" You say, dropping him back to the ground.

"Damn that.. What am I fighting for!? I lost everything in the crossfire and always witness the wreckage at dawn." You sigh, "If you say it enough you'll start believing, they'll tell you it's righteous to sacrifice your life, to keep your chin up in the crisis." You shout, trying to lower your voice.

"Captain Y/n." Erwin shouted.

You snapped your head around and continued "In the glory, in the justice, they will drill it into your heads!"

You drew both your swords and pointed them in the direction of the recruits. "Ain't no crying 'til the war's done." Pause. "No crying cause the fighting's just begun." You paused again and looked around you, at the shocked faces. "No crying 'till the moon comes up, 'till the night sky and stars shine in all of their glory.

Levi jogged up to you, still enraged. "What!?" He shouted, with a smirk.

You turn back around to the weeping cadets and continue "In this regiment you'll have to make a desicion. Every shoulder you've leaned on is the one you'll have to say your final goodbyes to. Burn it to ashes and watch as it falls, you'll have nobody left to forgive or forget. It'll make you live through the pressure... make you live through the pain. Don't let your sacrifice mean nothing." You stared at the cadets, a newfound determination in their eyes.

"Impressive..." Levi whispered.

"We're still dying in vain." You whispered in response. You raised your voice once again to say "Draw your blades, saddle your horses and cry for help. We leave under Erwin's command."

Erwin looks at you, then Levi, then the cadets. "We leave under Captain Y/n's command."

Levi's eyes widened, you continued to stand tall in front of the cadets, hiding your tears in your eyes, repeating to yourself your own advice. Ain't no crying 'til the war's won.

"Erwin you can't!" Levi shouted. "You fucking can't! She's the last person left that I love, you can't take her from me too!"

"I am aware, Levi, but she must lead the charge. Did you see the way the rookie's eyes sparkled after her speech? Only she can do that. Which means she must lead the charge." He replied, cold and calloused yet so soft all at once.

"She... She's allI have left." He whispered.

Just at that moment, you rounded the corner. The sight of his so disheveled, eyes watery and squinted yet so enraged.

Without thinking, you pulled him into a hug. "I love you too, Levi. I'm sorry."

"You can't. You can't." He repeated, like a broken record. Like broken glass porcelain so pristine but still yet to be cleaned after smashed.

"I'm sorry." You pulled away "Maybe... one day, in another lifetime, we'll get the timing right." You whispered.

He couldn't think. The world felt so different, so off and so destroyed without you.

He wanted to go back out and find you, to give you the shot and feed Bertholdt to you, yet Hange refused to let him go.

"Levi you don't have any gas and we know what happened, we can't find her." She consoled him.

His eyes fell to the ground as he thought for a moment. Everyone.

Dead.

Moblit, Erwin, old and new comrades, rookies and lastly, the only person he held dear,

You.

He sat on the other end of the wall, looking out onto the bloodied battlefield where you supposedly laid, bleeding out, gone, although everything was a blur due to his teary eyes. He wanted to cry, he tried to cry, but he still couldn't accept the idea that you were gone, and never coming back.

His anger started to take over. What was wrong with him? With Erwin? With you? Why didn't you fight, why didn't you think of him at all, you didn't think about how your death could affect him.

With fists clenched, his anger took control. "Fuck you, F/n! Why the fuck did you have to kill yourself!? You fucking bastard."

"Well... that's not a very nice thing to say to your fallen comrade... Levi."

Your eyes shifted open. Where am I? What happened? Am I... Dead? Levi!?

Something extremely heavy weighed on your chest as you tried to breathe, wheezing and coughing as you tried to squirm out from what was blocking you.

You knew one thing for sure, if you were still alive, you had to find Levi.

You wiggled out from what was on top of you, quickly finding that it was Arrow, your horse. Although unintentionally, he protected you in his final moments.

Scraps, bruises and gashes coated your dirt covered body, including a large slice from the top of your left breast to your right hip. Bleeding profusely.

You cursed under your breath as you tried to walk to the wall, due to not having the strength to operate ODM gear. As you approached the wall, a dim figure could be seen just left of your line of view. Levi.

You wanted to shout to him, for him, but instead you used the last of your strength to scale the wall slowly.

"Fuck you, F/n! Why the fuck did you have to kill yourself!? You fucking bastard."

"Well... that's not a very nice thing to say to your fallen comrade... Levi." You retorted, leaning on a blade and clutching as much of your wound as you could in one hand.

His eyes widened as they shot over to you. "F/n! Careful! Shit... how are you...?"

"Alive? God... I don't know. But I'll die soon, that's for sure." You chuckled.

"Don't fucking say stuff like that." He responded, sitting you down.

"Is it over?" You cracked, "the battle... I mean."

"Ten survivors. You included." He responded, tending to your wound the best he could.

Tears fell from your eyes, as if a heavy rainstorm was falling for your eyes. Levi tried to question it but before he could you replied "The fighting's over. I can let myself cry."

"Cry. Cry all you need. I'll be here."

"Woah, what happened to Mr. Cold-Hearted-Corporal?" You mused at Levi.

"Just fucking cry." He responded, letting his face relax. He knew you would spring back.
