Inspired by @sarajamss on tiktok (we love her)
There was just something about her, something he couldn't wrap his head around. Whenever she was around he couldn't help but feel drawn in. No matter how much he tried to make it stop, they way his eyes lit up wherever she validated him, talked to him even in a commander to captain sense, she made him lower his defenses.
The arrogant asshole, clean freak, humanity's strongest soldier, Levi Ackerman.
The commander, virtuous and driven, could outsmart any manipulator, people's lives were like glass in her hands that she somehow never dropped. She held a firm grip on ideology yet her humanity would never slip, 13th commander of the Survey Corp, F/n L/n.
"Woah does she never check in on you Levi?" said Hange, trying grabbing the top of Levi's door frame, failing miserably in the process. "I meant F/n. You had a nasty hit today, has she done anything?" Picking themselves up from the floor they walked to Levi. "I mean I know they're busy but it's important we check in on each other."
"I'm fine, she's doing paperwork and so am I, you can go." He groaned.
The bandages on his leg fell loose, Hange noticing and walking over him. "Let me fix those for you."
"I'm fine four-eyes, I don't need-"
"Jeez Levi! Why didn't you go to the infirmary!?" They said, rewrapping the bandages as best they could.
"Others need it more, leave."
"I'm sorry, I just wanted to check in on you, no need to be so harsh." They joked.
"Maybe F/n should check in on me."
Few more words were exchanged, a "Goodbye" from Hange and a "Good riddence" from Levi; he continued working.
Many moments passed, an hour or so, when another knock at his door sounded loud. Easily recognizable to the man, the simple knock knock... knock being all too familiar.
An exasperated sigh; "What."
"Now that's not a way to talk to your direct superior." You laughed, locking a gaze with him as you closed the door with your foot being careful of scuff marks.
"Can I help you" he corrected himself, yet you still kept that look. "... ma'am?"
"That's more like it, I was just coming to see if you were okay." he shot a glare, as if to say I'm fine, don't ask anything more. "Are you sure?"
"I'm fine. I've... gotten injured before. It's not the first."
"Whatever you say, I just wanted to..." You struggled to find the words you needed to say. "Wanted to check in on you."
Before you left he stopped you, just a single syllable but you stopped dead in your tracks, turning to face him once again. "What do you have left to do tonight?"
"Commander stuff."
"I can handle commander stuff."
"Levi, what would you do If i told you I needed you beyond the walls in three hours? Now, and I can't tell you why."
"Where am I going? Yes."
"That's it, no questions?"
"Am I allowed to know or not."
"You put a lot of faith in me, Levi."
"Well I need to put it somewhere."
The air stilled around the two of you, not an uncomfortable silence, but one so desirable it hurt. They way he couldn't look at you but somehow could look at you for hours. How ruthless you were, yet so gentle. Something about you brought a newfound emotion to his body, unsure if that was trust or something far scarier, love?
"What if I needed you to kill someone for me?"
"You're perfectly capable of doing that yourself, I don't understand."
"What if I wasn't?"
Another sigh, "where do I go?"
"Is there a command I could give you that you would have to say no to?"
"I don't get it, do you not want an obedient soldier?"
You chuckled a scoff, "down boy." You let out an exhale and said "we're treading a thin line. We keep giving Hange ammo and she'll run with it... makes me wonder if I deserve it."
"There's no such thing as deserving, everyone of us is shit that's just how things are. Commander."
"Levi."
Worlds collided with the repetition of names. Eye contact between the two of you just longer than needed, gazes softening, handshakes that lingered for just more time than considered professional. Everything came to a standstill.
Suddenly, that calmness sunk to the ground and you turned on you heels, no more words were spoken.
—
"You called, commander?" said Levi, closing the door and leaning against it, staring at the carpet he cleaned only a few days prior.
Levo walked over, sitting in the chair across from you with a straight back and sharp mind. "We've got to stop beating around the bush, we need to address it sooner or later."
He arose from his seat swiftly "How about later-"
"Sit back down, Levi."
You looked at eachother.
"You thought ordering me in here like a soldier was the best way to discuss this. I've avoided it for as long as I could, I can't- you thought this was the right dynamic to talk about this?"
You paused for a moment, thinking of a crafted response just elegant enough to not sound desperate "You're assuming I didn't think long and hard about calling you in here before I did? You take me for a fool, Captain."
"There's nothing to do about it." A tense beat played in both your minds, unsure and uncertain. Is this really the right thing to be doing? "Dont... please don't."
"...May I ask why?"
"Just... don't fuck with me, okay?" You stood, walking around to his chair.
"I wasn't going to fuck with you. I was going to kiss you."
"I know asshole! Just... don't. Don't just call me in here to get off and fuck with my feelings- you asshole."
"You need to trust me."
"I-" Levi's composure slipped, just enough to let him say "unless you mean it."
"I do." With that, you leaned in. Wearing him down just enough to let you knock him back as his posture slumped and he sank desperately into your touch, only signaling the need for more. His heartbeat quickened, cravat undone and messy hair all he could ask for, all he needed was more.
More of you.
His defenses lowered, his guard down, you always did it. No matter how hard he tried he could never keep his composure around you. Emotions, good and bad, happy and sad, everything came out at once.
"You trust me." Not a question nor a command, a soft spoken statement confirming reality.
"I do."
—
"I do."
"Now, Mister Ackerman, do you take Miss L/n to be your wife?"
"I do."
(idk where that last thing came from I just feel like I have done so much angst I needed the characters to survive this time. also happy part 40)
