After practice I had anticipated that the boys would want to go out to eat and the thought of it terrified me. What if we bumped into Mason and the boys, what if Wyatt was there?
"Hey" Liam said intertwining our hands the moment he had noticed me slightly trailing behind everyone
"What's wrong?" He asked causing the both of us to stop. A few of the boys from the team, including Chase turned back to look at us but Liam was quick to shrug them off getting them to leave

"Talk to me Mols" Liam said stepping closer to me, his hand placed on my arm stroking it gently
"Where are we going?" I asked making Liam furrow his brows together
"We usually go to the hangout after Saturday practice" Liam suggested
"The hangout? What's that?" I asked making Liam smile slightly
"Your panicking because of Mason and what ever his friend is called?" He asked making me look down
"Wyatt, his name is Wyatt" I whispered. I don't know why I told him that, he didn't need to know that in fact I think him knowing that will do nothing but damage in the long run

"Wyatt.. Why does that name sound familiar Mols?" He asked, his gaze searching for an answer that I don't think I would ever be prepared to share

"Come on you two! Let's get out of here" Liv cheered walking back over with everyone else, she hadn't seen to notice hanging in the air that we were in the middle of speaking but I think even if she had know it wouldn't have mattered
"give us a minute Liv" Liam warned her in a tone that make my stomach churn
"No no, let's go" I said pulling myself out of his grip to walk in line with Liv

I couldn't look back at Liam, not because I didn't want to because trust me I did.. But because I knew that he was a second away from figuring everything out and I am not ready for that conversation just yet..

--

The Hangout was in fact this beaten down camp out up the river. I was more on the side that Liam lives on then mine which makes sense as to why I have never seen it before but It was rather wholesome
Everyone was sat around a bonfire talking. I was sat between one of the boys and Liv, Chase and Liam were off to the side talking.
Liam and I haven't actually said a word to each other since we got here. Since we left the field in fact

I wanted to tell him everything, I wanted to let him.. But I knew the moment I did, it was game over
It would change everything and I wasn't ready for that just yet.

"So, what's Manor High really like?" Liv asked twirling the straw in her drink looking at me
"Probably the same as Maddison High?" I said making her laugh
"Come on, give me the gossip! The boys never have a girl around here so you mon cheri are about to be my best friend" She said joining our arms together
"So who hates who, who's dating who? Any scandals?" She asked

Yes, more then you can imagine

Where do I begin? My brother would murder me for either being here. He would also murder his best friend if he knew about the skeletons in my closet lately

"Well obviously our team hates yours. Curtesy of my brother" I said making Liv raise a brow
"Mason is your brother?" She said sounding a little gobsmacked
"Yeah, afraid so" I muttered figuring that was probably the end of this friendship. Good going Mollie, screwing it up before you even became friends

"Oh Molliemoo, how do you cope? That boy is the biggest annoyance to walk this planet" She laughed making me raise a brow
"I had him in my Chem in Middle school and my god he's such an idiot" She said still laughing

I honestly truly forgot that all of our middle schools were one, there was no divide like there is in High School. We were one school, some kids, there was never this tension

"Is she talking your ear of yet Mollie?" Chase asked coming up kissing Liv's cheek as he approached with Liam
"I was doing no such thing thankyou very much" Liv pouted making me smile
It was actually quite refreshing to see how sweet, how calm everyone is here
On the other side of the bank were more uptight, wound up then here. The relationships in my school never lead to anything but toxicity, but here I don't know.. there is hope

"Hmm, sure Livvy" Chase chuckled before I felt Liam's hand on my back making me look up at him
"Can we talk?" He whispered down to me slightly so that I doubt anyone else would have heard him
I looked up at him again before slowly nodding allowing him to stand back up waiting for me to join him

This talk was about to happen whether I wanted it to or not..
There was no escaping it..

Liam took a hold of my hand guiding me away from all of the team but silence continued to linger throughout the walk. I wanted to break the silence, I wanted to take back everything I had said already. I turned that small ounce of safe haven I had into something awkward now
All because of one guy
All because of one mistake
All because I couldn't handle myself let alone this situation

"Stop it" Liam said breaking the silence as soon as we got to our spot by the river
"Stop arguing with yourself in your head Sunshine. That isn't going to help either of us" He said softly
I looked over at him not really sure what I was supposed to do let alone what I was supposed to say

"I take it forgetting I said anything isn't an option?" I asked bowing my head kicking the dirt by my feet
"Not likely I'm afraid" He said tilting my chin up so I was looking at him
"What is he doing Mols" Liam asked making me close my eyes

"Hey no, look at me" He said making me open them again
"It's just us, just you and me Sunshine. Don't hide" He whispered allowing me to get lost in his eyes leaning into his touch
"You don't ever need to hide from me, okay?" He asked making me nod softly
"Please talk to me Mollie, tell me what's going on" He continued making me frown again

Saying it out loud changes everything, saying it out loud confirms it truly happened
Saying it out loud taints me

"I can't" I whispered back hoping that was enough to push this aside
"Can you try?" He asked but I attempted to look down
"Not now, you don't need to say it now but at some point.. Can you promise me you will try" He continued

He's persistent I'll give him that..

"Just try Sunshine" He said again this time stroking my chin lightly
"Okay Hotshot. I'll try" I said making his lips curve up into a small smile. A small smile, for a small victory maybe?
