2 Days until the children arrive

Marigold's POV

When I woke up the next morning, I yawned and stretched my legs. I rolled over and around in my mess of pillows before laughing to myself. The energy from last night still resonated with me, leaving me feeling joyful and playful. I got up and exited the tent, feeling the bliss of not having to worry about my hair or make-up.

It seems the entire camp felt the same as I did. They were all still smiling and laughing with each other. There was this feeling in the air, it gave everyone an extra skip in their step. I set out to simply walk around the camp and get acquainted with everything there was to see.

As I weaved through the tents and stations, I greeted people. I was still getting used to people bowing toward me, but they insisted they'd do it even when I told them it was okay not to. I recognized a few faces from last night, seeing some people who were in the band now ironing chains together, and some of the cooks making clothes and battle flags.

I eventually came to the edge of the camp. A huge field lay before me, stretching for miles and I smiled at the beautiful colors. I could still see some winter in the distance but I knew that it was melting quickly which lifted my spirits. The winter and cold reminded me of my encounter with the Witch, something that still sent a shiver down my spine. Just... that look in her eye...

"It's a beautiful day." A voice rang beside me, pulling me out of my thoughts.

I turned and saw Aslan next to me, looking out into the field.

"It is. The colors are like nothing I've seen before. Everything looked gray with the war going on." I said.

"Would you like to come with me?" He asked me.

"Where?" I inquired.

"Into the field, of course. I figured we could talk, get to know each other better." He smiled at me.

I simply nodded and we both took off walking into the field in front of us.

The ground pushed down under my paws and left imprints. The wind was shifting ever so slightly so the grass and flowers danced in it. The sun beamed down on us, making our golden coats of fur shine. We talked all about random things. Whatever came to mind. I had learned that he didn't care for blueberries - apparently made him sick.

"Don't let Avana know though, she'll hate me forever." He laughed.

"I guess it's only fair that I share that I don't like coconut, makes me sick too. People think I'm crazy for it, which is--" I stopped talking when he suddenly stopped walking with me.

"What is it?" I asked him.

"Look behind us, Mari." He smiled, still looking behind us.

I followed his gaze and saw what he was talking about. A trail of flowers had sprouted in the trail we had walked.

"How curious..." I breathed out in awe.

"Keep walking, let's see if they follow us still." Aslan suggested.

As we started walking again, the flowers bloomed behind us, causing me to gasp in awe.

"Don't you see?" He asked me with a big smile.

"See what?" I answered.

"They're blooming in your pawprints!" He laughed.

I looked back again and saw that they had bloomed in the dirt I pushed aside with my paw. When I looked back to the trail, I understood that they weren't following us, but me, blooming in my tracks.
