God bless you all.

"Ya Nads!" The door flew open and Nadia was hit by a warm body, she felt her husband's hand steady her for a moment, helping her so she didn't fall flat on her back. She looked immediately back at Abdullah knowing he would scold his daughter for being too exuberant.

"What is your problem?" She heard him ask his daughter, Nadia's hands were still around Maymunatu who had hugged her even tighter.

"I have her," She hugged Nadia, cheek to cheek, "Here with me. Once my tomorrow's exam is done, we're going everywhere in London together." Nadia shook her head, and allowed herself to be pulled into the warm house. It was an almost replica of Abdullah's Abuja house, high vaulted ceilings she knew cost a fortune to heat, and plush blue rugs that lit up the room even more.

"Do you like it?" Nadia watched as Maymunatu waved her hands around in the living room. She nodded, her eyes filled with an indulgent smile. She was pulled to sit on an off white sofa, from there she could see Abdullah directing the house staff on what and where he wanted their luggage.

"Ya Nads?" Nadia jerked out of the reverie she was in, she realized she had been mooning at her husband from the look on Maymunatu's face.

"You people should not do lovey dovey around me please, I'm a minor." Abdullah must have heard her words since he came closer and rapped a light knock on his daughter's covered head.

"You're already saying nonsense out of excitement. What have you been up to?" He rounded the chair and pulled Maymunatu out of her seat beside his wife. He sat down and leaned into the warm, comfortable chair, his coat was now off.

"Exams are over tomorrow. You know the rest." Nadia watched as their identical faces quarrelled playfully with one another. She wondered how Na'im must feel left out of their discussion.

"Ya Nads, did you buy the Van Cleef?" Nadia saw that Abdullah's eyes furrowed, but thought nothing of it as she ordered Maymunatu to get her hand luggage. While the young girl was away, she heard her husband's voice ask in a whisper,

"You're okay with her calling you Ya Nads? I'm not and I'm calling her out on it now." Nadia frowned, wondering her reaction to being called whatever, she didn't mind, though societal obligations would mind.

"I'd love to be called whatever she wants to call me, Ya Nads is not a problem, my cousins call me that." She saw him roll his eyes before he answered her with a firm finality in his voice.

"You're not your cousin to her though. You're her stepmother, ideally there's an entire generation gap." Nadia thought of it, shook her head before responding to him calmly, "Not today though, you've already attacked her enough."

She watched as he threw his head back in laughter both at her and the situation. Maymunatu returned to them, carrying a purple tagged hand luggage. Nadia unlocked it and pulled out a red box, with the name of the designer engraved on it.

"You bought us matching colors? Sweet!" Nadia smiled and watched the younger girl wear the gift and rush off to the only mirror in the room to see her neck.

"It's so beautiful. Thank you so much! I love it!" Nadia put the bag on the floor and accepted the girl's thanks happily. Her father however, poked the bear asking, "I don't get thank you?"
