Daisy had tried her best to ignore Xavier after that night. She didn't know what to think about this new information. She was happy. But she was scared too. But she had managed to avoid him up till the Poe Cup.

"So you're joining us?"

"I guess so."

"Aww," Daisy cooed at her, "You do have a heart!"

"I want to humiliate Bianca so badly that the bitter taste of defeat burns in her throat."

"Yeah, but mostly you're doing it because we're friends, right?" Enid now also asked besides the other blond.

"Tell me how she keeps winning."

"It's a real brain cramp," Enid started already sighing when she even thought about it. "The past two years, no other boat has made it across and back without sinking."

"Sounds like sabotage."

"There are no rules in the Poe Cup, and she is a siren, which makes her master of the water," Daisy explained further. She had a big advantage there was no point in denying that.

"Then we just need to beat her at her own game."

"We're all set. "

"Good. "

"Thing's in position."

This spiked Daisy interest she didn't go along with Wednesday when she went to plan, "Wanna tell us what you two were up to? "

"And spoil the surprise?"

"Speaking of surprises," Enid spoke her voice getting higher from excitement, "your costume's in the tent."

"Costume?"

Daisy hadn't seen much emotion on Wednesday's face,  but she was sure that she had just been mortified. The girl was sent to their tent by Enid. When the girl walked back out she looked just as mortified as she had left. Daisy couldn't help but laugh, she looked ridiculous with that expression. At least in her opinion.

"OMG, you look purr-fect! Only thing, where are your whiskers? "

"Ask again, and you'll be down to eight lives."

Daisy shook her head lightly at the two, sure they could act like friends one moment and the other they could be going at each other's throats.

So she decided to find Veronica before she'd have to go in their canoe.

"Aren't you a sexy kitten!"

Daisy laughed wholeheartedly at the girl. Veronica was big on sports she'd rather watch and support her friends from the sidelines.

"You're gonna make heads turn! Especially mister Thorpe's."

"Vee please don't," the girl pleaded. But Veronica's eyes had already sparked in a way she could only be scared off.

"I can feel his heartbeat raise already, and he isn't even close enough to see you properly."

"Ron-"

"Hey, Veronica," his voice was sweet as he greeted her when he spoke her name it sent shivers down her spine and she could notice the slight change in tone, "Flower."

"I was just leaving."

"Vero-"

"Toodels!"

Once her friend was gone she turned around, first taking a deep breath of encouragement, before coming face to face with Xavier whose face was decorated with joker face paint. He still looked fine as hell.
