A/N: Dain recovering from the contract being formed leaves the doctors and mages baffled by the odd scars and new abilities. Dain tries to process his own feelings while coming to a realizations of his own while sick at home.

Fun Fact:  In main story he just wants Ista free again, as at present at writing this prequal she stills has the Shackles of Tartarus on her(inspired by the snakes that would poison/hurt Loki in Norse myth, so they're described to look snake-like). Closest can find what her Tartarus Shackles look like is this but black and red...

Three days.

That was how long it had been since Inanna had left Khaenri'ah and he was not feeling any better. Mages and healers that Tyr and Halfdan had brought over or rather been ordered here by the king had been left perplexed. They didn't know what had caused the strange long deep blue scar that covered his entire left arm, shoulder straight down his ribs and down to his hip. It even creeped up the left side of neck to cover his eye. They looked eerily like the veins within the irminsul trees from what Alice had noticed.

Eventually it got so bad she had to get Halfdan to chase out everyone besides those the king had ordered to guard the manor. Unfortunately, even with the story relayed by them and the court mage Captain Dainslief had still been punished, though it was more merciful. King Irmin had placed him under house arrest for the next six months. Alice just sighed in a mixture of emotions as she cleaned off the sweat from his forehead as he slept uneasily. A lone little finch coming to perch on the windowsill, eyes glowing green. "Oh so the Goddess of Wisdom is watching? Hm hm hm~! How amusing."Alice thought, making the bird chirp in surprise. "That's right, I know you can hear my thoughts. Don't worry I won't blab anything I'm not supposed to tell. I'm a dark elf, not a gossiping dwarf." The little bird let out a calmer chirp almost like it was laughing as it ruffled its feathers before flying away.

"....Ina..."Alice looked over to see he was suddenly calming down. Making the pale haired elf smile fondly. The way he was smiling in his sleep so gently she felt almost jealous...almost. One day maybe she would have a family of her own with the right man, when she was ready to have one. There really was no rush as her race was blessed with longevity just like the adepti, yokai, and yaksha spirits.

"You really do love her, don't you sir knight?"she chuckled casually crossing her arms as she walked over to his side.

"Love who?"asked Halfdan as he came in and offered her a mug full of warm cider. Alice was more than happy to accept as she sat down on the edge of their friend's bed.

"You really haven't noticed how that pretty little gypsey has our dear Dain wrapped around her little fingers?"giggled Alice.

"Inanna? Yeah I have noticed. He turns down every girl that has tried to court him, he was always the one being chased even when we were teenagers. The ladies just couldn't get enough of him and it got pretty ugly at times. It got to the point Dainslief just had enough and started growing cold to everyone that was single."Halfdan sighed as he took a seat in the chair by the window, crossing his legs casually as he took a sip from the mug.
