Chapter 12: Sibling Fight Meltdown

One week later, Strawberry and Chalice sat in the backyard, relaxing. Strawberry is meditating while Chalice lays on her back to watch the clouds.

Chalice: Ah....what a nice, peaceful day....nothing can ruin this....

Strawberry stood up, lifting her injured foot a bit.

Strawberry Crème: I'm gonna rest my ankle for a bit.

Chalice: 'Kay.

Inside the house, Strawberry found Elder Kettle in his chair.

Strawberry Crème: Oh! Hey, Elder!

Elder Kettle: Hey, Strawberry....

Strawberry Crème: Are you okay?

Elder Kettle: The boys are fighting again.....

Strawberry Crème: They are? I don't hear them fighting. It's quiet....

Elder Kettle:......

Strawberry Crème: I'm gonna find out what's going on.

Upstairs, Strawberry walked in the hallway and hears the bedroom door open.

Mugman: Well, I don't need you!!

Cuphead: Me neither! I wish you were never my brother!

Mugman: Hmph!

Mugman runs past Strawberry with tears in his eyes.

Strawberry Crème: What happened?

Strawberry stood in the doorway to find Cuphead crying in the corner of his room.

Strawberry Crème: Cups?

Cuphead: (sobbing) Go away....

Strawberry wears a concerned look on her face.

Strawberry Crème: Are you okay?

Cuphead: I SAID GO AWAY!

Strawberry feels calm but concerned for her friend. She sat down next to him.

Strawberry Crème: I know you're hurt right now but do you want to talk about what happened back there?

Cuphead:.....fine.....

Cuphead leans against Strawberry and she puts her arm around him.

Cuphead: Me and Mugman had a huge fight.....

Strawberry Crème: What was it about?

Cuphead:......it all started with us playing marbles....

Strawberry Crème: Mm-hmm....what happened at that time?

Cuphead: I won and Mugman lost and he was cool with it.....

Strawberry Crème: That's not so bad.

Cuphead:.....but I accidentally stepped on something....

Strawberry Crème: What was it?

Cuphead points to the floor to find a teddy bear ripped in half.

Strawberry Crème: A teddy bear? That's it? Why would Mugs be mad about that?

Cuphead: That's his teddy bear, Strawberry. I accidentally stepped on it and it ripped. He did not take it well.

Cuphead eyes started to tear up.

Strawberry Crème: I can always patch it up. It's no big deal.

Cuphead: R-really?

Strawberry Crème: Back the orphanage, the ladys were nice enough to give us a break every two hours. So, I took up on knitting. One kid at the orphanage had a stuffed animal that had a hole in it, so I fixed it for them.
