You sat in your room with a book in hand, the door was slightly open and Sam walked by. He knocked on the door and you looked up from your book to smile at him. "Hey, Sammy, what's up?" you ask and pat a spot on the bed beside you. He walked over and sat next to you "Just saw the door open and wanted to check on you." he stated. You looked at him with a bit of confusion. "Um, thank you, but why would you want to check on me?" you asked him with a chuckle. "Just wondering if you wanted to reveal your quote-unquote secret feelings for Dean." he teased you. You let out a sigh and put your fingers on your temples rubbing them in frustration. "Seriously Sam? This shit again? You know he doesn't like me like that. Why would I want to risk our friendship like that?" you begged the question. He looked at you like you were crazy. "C'mon just try. If you don't try you'll never know what could've been." he tried to convince you.

You sighed and looked at Sam in worry, "Sammy, I'm scared." you told him and let your head fall to rest on your knees.

He placed a hand on your back and rubbed it in reassurance. "Well, I'm here to help if you change your mind." he told you and kissed your head before leaving.

You let out a sharp breath and reopened your book. For now, you were just going to read and try not to think about all of the what-ifs.

Sam walked down the hallway and into the library to see Dean sitting there half asleep with a book lazily hanging from his hand. "Dean!" he exclaimed. Dean jumped "I'm awake. I was not sleeping at all." he rushed out and it made Sam smirk and let out a chuckle." Yup, you were totally awake. What are you reading?" he sat down across from his brother. "Right I was reading um, it's uh it's a book magic stuff." Dean nodded at his brother. Sam let out a laugh. "Are you sure cause it looks like it's The Wizard of Oz?" Sam teased him. Dean slammed the book shut and pushed it aside. "Don't judge me bitch."

Sam raised his hands in surrender. "I wasn't judging. I want to ask you something," he told his brother with a smirk.

"Shoot." Dean responded, ready to answer his brother's question. "When are you going to tell (y/n) that you love her?" he asked in confidence. Dean ran a hand down his face and let out a groan. "Sam, I've told you before I'm not going to risk that. She means too much to me to let a confession ruin a friendship," he told his brother.

"Dean, I'm telling you you don't know how she would react. She could feel the same way." he tried to persuade his brother once again. "No, Sammy. Now just drop it ok." Dean grumbled. "Alright fine, but if you change your mind I'm here to help. You know like if you change your mind right now, I'm sitting directly in front of you. Easy access to brotherly assistance in getting you the girl you've loved for years." he shrugged and looked down at his book sparing glances at his older brother hoping that he would accept his help.

Dean picked up his book and began to make his way to the hallway. "Hey, where you going?" Sam called "I'm going to read great literature in peace!" Dean retorted.

"Damn it, Sam, why do you have to make this so difficult?' he silently cursed his brother.

You heard the small exchange from your room and let out a laugh. All you caught from their conversation was that Dean was reading The Wizard of Oz and that he was going to quote-unquote read good literature in peace. It made you smile, hearing the boy's banter was always something that made you feel safe in a weird way. You think it was just the fact that they were still the lighthearted boys you had come to know. They weren't always so serious, it made you comfortable.

You didn't notice but Dean stopped by your door when he heard you laugh. Hearing your laugh made him smile, it made his heart swell. Your laugh was a noise he would like to hear for the rest of his life, especially if he was the cause of it.
