Hanako & Possessiveness

One of the traits I like about Hanako is his possessiveness, but how far does it go? From the beginning it's presented as lighthearted clingyness, but later we realize just how bad it is .

The peak example of this is from the way
later chapters where Hana says this in
regards to Yashiro's lifespan.

It truly is his need for control at it's worst, Hanako wanting sole dominion over Yashiro's life and no one else

Although Hanako has a very clear problem with ownership to the choice people he loves, which goes as far as him struggling to accept even platonic relationships that Yashiro has, this is something that extends to even Tsukasa. His brother is a Yorishiro after all. Something that is already unmistakably his.

In this official image we see him clutching the picture of the Moon. It's a tight grip, his gaze is tired but frighteningly intense. If I may bring up once more, Tsukasa is associated heavily with the moon with even his name being sourced back to the word.

And of course, I shall not forgot Amane's 'Moon rock' that he speaks fondly of and refers to as a "Prized Possession"

To add on to this, take this image
of Hanako as he clutches clumps of suspicionly arranged Camellias. Glass shards that are often used to symbolize memories and a purple hue
that's used to indicate a certain twin. To me, it's an allusion to Tsu's body that Hanako is holding on to so dearly.

Then there's Hanako whole issue with
limiting Yashiro's agency. Always keeping
information away from her, making his own
decisions for her, and swaying her to think
twice about choices he doesn't like. This is
something present very early on with the
whole mermaid arc. Yashiro nearly makes
the choice to stay with the fish but was
stopped because of Hanako's intervention,
which he again speaks about it in way that
indicates that Yashiro belongs to him.

Hell , the entire Picture Perfect arc could be seen as Hanako just wanting to keep Yashiro in a pretty birdcage, which is something he actually does later in the arc.

TLDR: Hanako is peak possessive and controlling behavior at its finest. It's something that extends not only to his romantic bonds, but to his familial bonds as well.
