"And you want to ta-" Mr Cooper, my strict art teachers explanation was stopped when Mason walked in late.
"Sorry I'm late sir I got lost. I'm new."
"Name?"
"Mason Gray."
"Get a seat. Show up late again, there will be a detention waiting for you." Mason nodded as he turned to look for a place to sit, he spotted me and came over to my free space.
"Morning." I looked over at him, I saw something on his neck. A hickey. Welp.
He immediately moved his hand to his neck attempting to cover it when he saw me looking. "No judgement, I'm glad that at least one of us is getting action." My hands held a tight grip on my chair, why did I think this would go somewhere?
"Last night was a mess for me." The night we had our little date... Why'd I trust it so much I didn't even know him. I guess it doesn't take a lot to change a man's emotions towards you? He started talking and I zoned out. His words were practically meaningless at this point.
"Are you ok Liana?" Liana was the name I let people I actually like call me. Not the name I'd want Mason gray to be saying. But, of course, I didn't say that.
"Huh? Yeah I'm fine." Lies. I put my hand up to ask to go to the toilet, the grand escape. Annoyed, Mr Cooper agreed and I rushed out of the room.
"Liana slow down!" I looked behind me and saw my sister. "Come here. I saw it too." She pulled me in for a hug as I tried to erase the memory.
"I don't know why I care. This is so stupid. I just got out of a relationship of course I can't expect him to lik-"
"Bitch if you don't shut up right now. Stop it. He took you out and then does this? He's dumb. Very very dumb ok? You don't deserve that sweetie. You deserve a man who'd give you pure happiness. Good that we know he's a player though." I nodded, this girl is actually smart sometimes.
"How'd you even get out of the class? Only one person allowed out."
"I walked out, I'll just say I had period issues, it'll probs make him awkward enough to not get me into any trouble."
"Smart. Wanna go skip for a bit?"
"Duh." She said grabbing my hand.
. . . . .
I'm currently volunteering now. "Everyone please come to the main hall thank you." I heard a voice say through the speakers and I made my way over."Hello everyone. Sadly, Miss Reece has passed away in her sleep. Her funeral will be held here Friday afternoon, feel free to come and pay your respects." What? I saw her a few days ago, perfect health and everything she was fine. I would've never expected her sudden death. She was one of the sweetest people here. All of this comes with the job I suppose, I hope her and Mr Reece meet again now.
. . . . .
After volunteering, I played '3:15 (breathe) by Russ' and as I was about to enter my car of course I bump into the infamous, Mason. My attempt of trying to escape his 'ever wondering gaze' was a fail. He opened his perfect and if may I add 'busy' lips to speak."Hey, it feels like we haven't gotten any time to speak today. Pretty hectic shift huh?" I nodded along with his statement. His expression changed to disappointment at me not responding.
"Have a safe trip home." I turned around ready to leave when I felt his hand hold onto mine.
"Are you mad? Because of...this?" He pointed to the obvious hickey on his neck and I stayed silent and stared anywhere but where he was. I freed my hand from his grip, leaning against the wall, arms folded ready for whatever shit excuse he had. "I do like you liana. Yesterd-"
"Why are you trying to explain?" I laughed in his face. "It's not like we're a thing. It's not like we're together. It's not like I even like you." I told him watching his face change from disappointment to a mischievous smile.
"You know what, you're right. We are nothing, probably never will be. What's your sisters number?" I rolled my eyes.
"She'd slap my face if she knew you even asked me that question. She likes confident guys, not weak ones who ask the sister or friend for that info."
"Have a good ride home Liana. I'll see you tomorrow." A smirk spread across his face as he moved away from me leaving me surprised. What an absolutely insufferable, ugly, agitating, mediocre, self absorbed, narcissistic and arrogant cunt! What is his deal? What does he think he's doing? He thinks this is a game? A game? I took big breaths in as I thought of how I could and most definitely WOULD do to get back at this incredibly detestable guy. Mason Gray will not bring me down today.
