Leaving my family wasn't exactly the best decision I would have made. We used to live in Chicago, but I left them and went to Los Angeles, without a second thought. I always dreamt big. Some fans, money, a big house- an ideal life, in other words.

The downside?
It was just a dream, and dreams don't always come true.

My job description was simple: be a hotel maid. I missed my family, but I knew the truth, any contact with them was impossible. My best friend was my fellow housekeeper and my roommate, Emma. She was always there for me, and was a constant shoulder to cry on.

"It's alright, Arlene." She'd always say. "One day, you'll get out of this mess."

Her words were the only thing that kept me going; they were my only strength.

Her words weren't enough to overrule my guilt, though.

"Arlene, you're needed in room number 304. Take Emma with you." The manager came to our quarters. Without another word, Emma and I took our equipments and made our way upstairs.

Even though it was just 3 o'clock in the afternoon, we were bone tired. The two of us were exhausted, due to our constant all-nighters. We could have easily pulled off the look of a walking zombie, dead on the inside but subconsciously awake. Throughout, I felt like a leaking battery, as though my body was leaking of energy.

Our quarters were too tiny therefore we couldn't sleep in there for more than three hours. Also, we had to work on low wages.

"Sleepy aren't we?" Emma smiled at me and I stared at her with drowsy eyes.

"You're sleepy too." I muttered, lightly rubbing my arm.

She chuckled as the elevator came to a stop. The door opened and I strutted out and bumped face first into someone who I could swear wasn't there a moment ago.

"At least watch where you're going." The man grunted, holding me by my shoulders.

His hands were large and I looked up to glare at his face. He certainly wasn't an American. I presumed he was either Scottish or Irish as he had a mixture of those features.

He was gorgeous. His long dark hair were tied into a ponytail and from afar, his eyes seemed brown but, looking closer, he hosted blue eyes.

His cerulean eyes swept over me like a cold midwinter breeze. I could see myself in them, my shallow frame in his frozen irises that felt like ice and glass. They were captivating and mesmerising. But I was brought back into my senses when he sighed with annoyance. He pushed me aside and walked into the elevator while I stood there dumbfounded. Emma was standing near the room, waiting for me and I slowly walked up to her.

She opened the room with the key and giggled. "You were so checking out that guy."

Her words surprised me as I had no such intention. "No. I'd never do that."

"You know who he was?" Emma pushed the door aside and cleared a passage for us to pass. We carried our cleaning equipments inside. "He was Drew Galloway. He works as a wrestler in TNA but before he worked at WWE."

This whole talk of wrestling confused me. I was a little distant from these things so I didn't have much knowledge about them, but Emma explained it to me whenever it was possible.

I got hold of the vacuum cleaner and I worked on it as Emma went on gossiping.

"Drew has been living in this hotel for three days now. He's a very special guest for the manager." She sprayed the table cleaner on the side-table and wiped it with a cloth. "You found him attractive, right? He might just be your Prince Charming."

Emma's nonsense was starting to creep me out and I tried to hold back my urge for replying her but I couldn't help it.

"Could you shut up? I don't want to know who he was or what he is. We are just servants. Can't you see that?"

It might've seemed harsh but it was the truth. Honesty could be bitter sometimes but at least it was better than the lies. She just gave me that one depressed look and then went back to work.

Luckily we had finished cleaning before I collapsed. The room looked tidy and proper but my eyes couldn't even open.

"Arlene, we better go back now." Emma carried the equipment outside and, sauntering, I followed her.

By the time we reached our quarters, I flopped down on the bed and my eyes closed as I slowly drifted away into sleep.

"If you leave us Arlene, you'll never be a part of our family!" My dad shouted, his face had turned red and there were wrinkles on his forehead.

"I don't care! I just want to leave!" I cried, tears travelling down my cheeks.

My mom looked at me with arched eyebrows, her voice almost inaudible. "Then go. You'll never be welcome here." She pulled my dad back as I took my luggage and carried it outside.

But when I opened my eyes, I realised it was just a dream. My face was sweaty and Emma sat beside me.

"How long was I asleep?" I gasped, trying to sit up straight and wiping all my sweat.

Emma was munching her bread as she looked at her wristwatch to see the time. "It's 9 o'clock. You were asleep for six hours. That's a pretty long time."

I was astonished. I never slept properly. This was the first ever time I had felt active and energetic after sleeping.

Emma quickly finished her bread, dusted the crumbs off her shirt and stood up. "I've got a bad news. We now have to wear uniforms while working." She brought an orange dress from the wardrobe and handed it to me.

The dress wasn't long enough. It was quite small. It's design was plain and decent but still it looked very odd. There was a badge attached to it on which my name, 'Arlene' was written.

"The manager wanted to see you." She sighed, flopping down on the couch.
