Drew left and I never said a goodbye to him. My opinion about him had dropped down and I never wanted to see him again. He was the only person who, I had hoped, would take me away from this awful place. But instead he left, without bothering to bid a farewell.

Weeks passed and I got more and more sick. I couldn't eat properly, I couldn't sleep properly. I had a high fever most of the time but I never stopped cleaning the rooms since it was my job.

July came by but I saw it as a sign of more hard work since more tourists would visit and stay at our hotel. More rooms were being occupied each day and I couldn't handle it.

"Emma, I'm really sick." I coughed as the tears streamed down my red-rimmed eyes.

"I know that Arlene. Please, don't get up. You don't have to work today." She stroked my hair gently.

The door flew open and a fellow housekeeper came in who told me to pack my stuff. It worried me and I asked him why but he just said that the manager ordered him to convey the message to me.

Emma packed my bag meanwhile I was in a state of anxiety. Why would the manager want me out?

I got up from my bed, fixed my hair and wore my jacket on then made my way out of the room. Emma followed me with the bag.

The manager was talking to another guy who had his back turned, preventing me to see him. But his hair were tied into a bun. It was the only feature I could see.

The manager looked and pointed at me and the man turned around. The moment he did, my heart started racing faster. His familiar face made me feel warm and my cheeks had started to turn red. It was Drew.

I walked towards them and the manager clasped his hands. "Arlene, Drew and I made a deal here. You have to relinquish your job at the hotel."

"Why?" I asked in a worried manner but Drew, who seemed lively, let out a chuckle.

"Because I'm here to take you. You're going to be a housekeeper at my place." His Scottish accent was full of cheerfulness.

I glared at Emma who stood beside me and she gave me a huge smile.

"Good luck with your new job." The manager patted on my shoulder and walked back to his counter.

Emma kept the bag down and gave me a friendly hug. "I told you that you'd get out of this mess one day." She whispered.

"I'll miss you Emma." My arms tightened around her.

Soon we pulled back and Drew took my bag. He sauntered towards the exit and I said one last goodbye to Emma then followed him.

He placed the bag on the back seats and then opened the door of the passenger seat for to get in. I sat in and he closed the door then came in the car beside me on the driving seat.

"I'm sorry if this was all so suddenly but I've made up my mind." He began to drive the car. "I've decided to help you get your old life back. No more housekeeping from now on."

"Really?" I looked at him with my eyes wide open.

"Yes. It's a promise. I'll do everything in order to help you." He smiled widely.

I couldn't believe it. Just few weeks ago, I started to hate this guy but now I was starting to like him all over again.

"Why?" I questioned him as my heart started thundering inside of me.

He laughed a little before answering. "I just felt like it. Oh look, there's a small cafe over there. Let's get something to eat, I'm starving."
