after one taste.
am I bittersweet?
or just too sour?
do my words
make your eyes water?
my presence-
does it make you
thirst for someone sweet?
was the aftertaste of
my love
too much
for your palate
that you had to disguise
your dissatisfaction
with desert?
i was poison to you-
as are all things
vibrant and beautiful;
it's a self-defense tactic
to prevent from being
swallowed
whole.
