Mokichi Robinson x Reader

--

Mokichi was nothing short of your heaven.

He had gotten custody of his sister one year before meeting you and had already transformed himself all for a little girl with bright blue eyes and blonde hair. Elena was his everything and even a blind man could see it.

You could remember the day he officially became a preacher, the glee on his face as he embraced you outside of the church. He was too elated with his achievement to see the nasty looks cast at you for being with a preacher and not being married. You wish you could understand how a ring and a vow would make your relationship virtuous in their eyes, but you sat silently for the sake of Mokichi. He had done so much, he didn't need anymore to worry about.

The other side of your boyfriend terrified you when you first found out. He brought you to a dingy construction site on the outskirts of the city and left you in a concrete room in front of a television with Elena. The small girl babbled on about how amazing her big brother was and you couldn't help but scream as you watched the television. Your loving, caring, sometimes overprotective, boyfriend had knocked a man taller than him out with one punch. Elena cheered in your lap and took your scream as one of excitement, not one that came with the surprise of watching a priest beat someone to the ground.

The second time you watched one of his fights was after he gave you a much-needed explanation of his history with martial arts. After finding out that he was brutally raised and trained from a young age, not just a runaway who had a thing for fighting, your heart eased its pounding in your chest. You linked arms and walked through the entrance to the old parking garage where the next match was being held. The crowd of screaming men parted, and you couldn't help but grip tighter onto Mokichi's arm when you heard their comments about you. They practically tore your clothes off with your eyes, speculating among themselves about how a relationship with a priest worked in detail you never needed to hear from anyone else besides the man at your side.

It seemed anywhere you went you were torn apart.

The perfect girlfriend wasn't enough for the churchgoers and the perfect girlfriend didn't seem to stop the Kengan men from imagining you in scenarios you didn't consent to.

"My love, my light, you're all I need. I could never ask for a woman more wonderful to share my world with." Mokichi held you close to him as you swayed in your kitchen. He had sent Elena off to bed with a kiss and a hug, promising to see her in the morning, just like every night. He swayed to the hum of the refrigerator and added his own humming to the makeshift symphony.

"I love you." You didn't meet his eyes in fear of him reading your soul like he so often did. "And I you."

What hurt most of all was that your life was perfect.

Perfect man, perfect job, perfect home, perfect little girl to coddle, yet it wasn't good enough for the world. At every turn, you got stares for disgracing Mokichi with your sin since the two of you hadn't made a move to marry. Ten years completely devoted by his side wasn't good enough for them. You were a harlot leading him back down the life of sin he redeemed himself from. Such a shame that he keeps her around. I've seen prostitutes with better Sunday best than her.

Kengan matches drained what self-esteem you thought you gained back. Just when your skin grew thick enough to stop their judging eyes, a new stare penetrated your skin. Catcalls, whistles, and flirtation were drowned out in the rowdy Kengan arenas. Mokichi led you through the crowd with a smile and an arm around your shoulders as tight as he could squeeze without hurting you. His bible clutched tight in his other hand, you cast your eyes to the ground. I can't wait for her to stop hangin' around that priest. I'd make sure she gave me one hell of a night.

It was before the first match Mokichi had in the Kengan Annihilation Tournament that you saw him stand up for you.

He spoke with venom only reserved for those who hurt Elena as he held two men up by their throats. You wouldn't have stood a chance against them, but Mokichi threw them against the wall as if they were pieces of paper. His chest rumbled and fists clenched as he told them they would be six feet deep if they even looked at you again. They scrambled down the opposite end of the hall as soon as he finished, wanting to be saved from the man with a rosary in his pocket.

"Mokichi?" His shoulders tensed up and he slowly turned around to face you. His face smiled sweetly at you as he approached, scared that you would think less of him for stooping so low. Instead, as he reached you, you wrapped his arms around you.

"Thank you." His heart broke as he pretended not to hear your light sobs.

"I'll always protect you. Whatever they say, I'll face it. You're everything I could ever need, the least I can do is keep warding off people who harm you." Mokichi would never admit to you how long he had been fighting for you. You had a feeling he had been doing it since he met you, but knew he was too stubborn to say it out loud.

"Good luck, my love." Mokichi bent down to give you one last kiss before his match with Raian Kure. He bent down to console a worried Elena and respectfully nod to the young Kure girl Elena had befriended.

The match commenced and you never wished that it did.

Mokichi had the upper hand in the beginning but Raian Kure transformed into a monster in the arena. You had wrapped a tight arm around each girl as Raian battered your love. Karla Kure seemed to tuck her face into your side as Mokichi's movements slowed, his battered face covered in blood that wasn't only his.

"Big brother!" Elena yelled as Raian held Mokichi by the neck, the blond man sending one last smile to the girl he revolved his life around before a snap echoed in the arena.

The crowd roared and Elena screamed.

You wanted to run to him. You wanted to run into the arena and give Raian one last punch before he inevitably snapped your neck, too. But you couldn't. Elena didn't deserve to lose both of the people who raised her. She was your only priority now.

Elena did try and run into the arena, acting on the thoughts that ran through both of your heads. You managed to catch her at the end of the entrance tunnel, both of you collapsing in tears as medics rushed out behind you, Dr. Hanafusa already preparing for an experimental surgery you would inevitably agree to.

A quiet rushed over the arena as Raian left.

The loudest noises were Elena's sobbing and a ringing that hadn't stopped in your ears since Mokichi hit the ground. The three Kure's on the opposite side of the arena couldn't look at Raian, only the little girl who called out for her big brother who would never return.
