-Riley's point of view-
I haven't moved in with my uncle Shawn yet, he's just trying to get his life sorted before adopting me. Due to his job causing him to move around a lot, doesn't actually have a particular home. However he has said that he is packing in his job and is going to get a small, part time job until he can get a proper job that involves him staying in the same place. I am so grateful for all that he is doing for me, but I can't help but feel guilty for him quitting his job. Although he says he doesn't mind, I think he's secretly upset. But then again, it was his idea. Nobody forced him to adopt me, did they?
Recently, I have been sleeping on Lucas' sofa. His mom kindly offered and I accepted."Riley, Riley?" I heard someone say as they softly stroked my hair while I was asleep.
"W-what?" I stuttered, rubbing my eyes then opening them to find out who it was. It was Lucas.
"Time for school," he smiled.
"Oh, okay." I smiled back as I sat up and started to stretch.Lucas helped me to walk to the bathroom as I always feel weaker on a morning before I have taken any of my medication.
"Thanks," I thanked him.
"No problem. Can you manage by yourself now?" He asked.
"Yeah." I yawned.Lucas walked away so that I could get myself dressed. When I was dressed, I went into the kitchen to join Lucas and his mom for breakfast at the table.
"Good morning," I greeted them.
"Morning, honey. I've just checked the mail and there's a letter from the hospital for you. Your mom texted me and said it got mailed to her house and she posted it here," Lucas' mom explained.
"Oh, okay. Thank you, Mrs. Friar." I thanked her as she handed me the letter from the hospital.
It was addressed to me and it had my parents' address on it. This was probably the last letter I was going to receive that was addressed to that house, I thought to myself.I teared open the envelope and read the letter.
"What does it say?" Asked Lucas.
"It says that I have an appointment." I told him.
"When?" He questioned.
"I-it's tomorrow." I stuttered.
"I'll be there," he assured me.
"Thanks." I gave him a smile.
"Is it physiotherapy again?" He was full of questions.
"No. It says something about speech therapy." I informed him while I scanned through the letter again, making sure I had covered everything that was written on the paper.
"Well, at least they're doing something," he said, wrapping his arms around me.
"I suppose," I mumbled.
"Are you okay?" He glanced up at me.
"I'm fine," I nodded.Lucas kept on hugging me when we heard the buzzer. It was Alexis' voice.
"Hey, it's Alexis," she called.
"Come on up," Lucas spoke through the speaker.
Within minutes, Alexis was in the room.
"Hi!" I greeted her.
"Hey, Riley. I didn't know you were here." She responded.Lucas' mom explained everything to her.
"Oh." Was all she managed to say.
I laughed.-With uncle Shawn-

I decided not to wait a minute longer to sort out my life so that I could adopt Riley. As soon as I woke up this morning, I headed straight to my workplace to inform them that I was quitting."Good morning," my boss greeted me.
"Morning," I replied.
"You needed to see me?" He asked.
"Uh, yes. I'm sorry to have to tell you that I quit." I let out.
My boss looked stunned.
"Uh, I didn't quite expect you to come out with that one," my boss sighed.
"I'm really sorry, sir. But I have to." I said.
"Well, I'm terribly sorry to hear that. You will be missed." My boss smiled before shaking my hand.-With Riley and Lucas at school-
-Riley's point of view-
Lucas and I approached our classroom holding hands. This was the first time I had been to school since my parents told me that they were putting me up for adoption. We entered Mr Matthews class. He looked over at me and I immediately turned my head away from him.
"Good morning, Friar and Matthews." He said.
"Morning, Sir," Lucas answered him just to be polite. I tried to ignore him.
"Riley?" Mr Matthews questioned.
"It's Miss Matthews to you," I snapped.
"Good morning, Miss Matthews." He sighed.
"Good morning, Mr Matthews." I forced myself to speak to him.
"Don't you mean dad? You always call me dad." He looked a little hurt.
"No. You're not my dad anymore. Oh, and by the way, I'm not Riley Matthews. It's Riley Hunter!" I corrected him and took a seat.
