"It's not like I want to do this, Madeline," Draco crossed his arms over his chest,
"Well then don't! You don't have to do everything they tell you to-"
"If I don't marry Pansy, my father will kill you or have you killed, he made that very clear. I saw the look in his eyes, he meant it as well. I'd rather be trapped in a loveless marriage with someone else and know you are fucking safe," Draco said, there was a desperation to his tone,
"Why don't we go to Cornwall? Like we said about months ago. We don't know anyone there, no one can get to us... please, Draco, I don't want to lose you again," I choked, tears forming in my eyes,
"I don't want to lose you either, darling, but we can't-"
"Why not?! Don't be such a coward. It's not fucking fair, and you know it's not, it's not fair on anyone. You can't be with her, and we can't have a lifelong affair behind Pansy's back either," I said through shaky breath,
"You know I love you, Madeline, but we have to think about the repercussions of our actions. Say we went to Cornwall – how would we live? Where would we live? I'd be cut off financially, and you only have a few hundred in your Muggle savings... baby, we have to be realistic. I want to give you the life you deserve. Maybe you could be my live-in mistress," Draco said, trying to be supportive and helpful,
"Your live-in mistress? Don't you understand how that makes me feel? I don't want to be looked down upon or known by everyone as your dirty little whore," I shook my head, "Sure, we'd find it hard at first, but we could find a small flat somewhere. It wouldn't be hard to find a job," I said desperately,
"It's not like Parkinson isn't aware of us being together, more or less all of our friends know too," Draco pointed out,
"That doesn't make me feel any better, Draco. Pansy would eventually resent me and really up detesting me, that's if she doesn't already," I said,
"It would never be a real marriage with her, you know it wouldn't," Draco sighed, his eyes boring into mine,
"Maybe not, but she might want children one day, and being her husband, you would be obliged to father her offspring," I turned away, not wanting Draco to see the disgust on my face,
"I would never fuck Parkinson, the thought of having children with anyone besides you makes me feel physically sick," Draco recoiled, then began walking towards me, "If you lived with me in my marital home, you'd have your own suite, you'd be spoiled every day, you'd essentially get to be my wife... just unofficially," Draco added, pulling me into his arms.
After we left Hogwarts, Draco and I simply lost touch, we drifted apart, our lives went in completely different paths. I had accepted that Draco Malfoy would just be my teenaged and first love. I even ended up dating Patrick for a couple of years, but that fizzled out too.
We never entered into a proper relationship, but in the middle of our sixth-year, we did make it known we were together. Everyone knew us to be the non-couple couple. We walked around the castle holding hands, kissed and didn't care who saw, and we even went to Madam Puddifoots on a semi-regular basis.
Draco and I reconnected when we were twenty-five years old. I bumped into him one evening whilst drinking at the Three Broomsticks. Hannah had not long left, and I was getting prepared to Apparate back home, it was like it were fate or something.
