In the middle of the flight Dorian and I had gone through every possible conversation topic we could think of; Dorian’s grand-parents, first flights, favorite foods, books, movies and many more. She was hitting her head against her book saying, “So incredibly bored, so incredibly bored!”
I doodle absent mindedly on my math worksheets, I was even bored of them and I hardly ever doodled.
“Ahhhhhhh...” Dorian groaned, “How can you do math? You’re not even at school yet!”
“Um... technically, I’m not doing math but I do it for fun sometimes.”
“Ahhh! Nerd! Nerd! Nerd! Nerd!” she yapped and I felt slightly taken aback. Seeing this she quickly added, “Not that that is bad or anything, well it is,” she added in an undertone, “but I don’t mean it like that!” I nodded slightly overwhelmed. at that moment the flight attendant's voice came over the speakers, “A movie will be playing soon and one of the flight attendants will be coming around with headphones you can purchase.” I heard several sighs of relief and Dorian cheered whipping out her headphones. I unplugged my own from my iPod and plugged them back in underneath the arm of my seat and looked up at the tiny screen. The movie was no other than “Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked”.
“What is this crap?” Dorian exclaimed and several others groaned and glared maliciously at the little girl in the blue and purple dress who was giggling happily.
After more mindless reading, math problems and listening to music. A flight attendant came around with a food cart.
“Fooood!” Dorian moaned as the flight attendant came up to us.
“13 year olds and younger get a free meal and colouring package.” she said to me dumping a red tray with a microwave container, cheap rice crispy square, a plastic cup of coke and a airplane colouring book with a pack of four cheap crayons on my lap.
“Thanks?” I said uncertainly.
“Can I get a turkey sandwich and a coke.” Dorian said cutting in. The flight attendant obligingly handed her another plastic cup and a lump covered in plastic wrap. After she had walked away Dorian quickly unwrapped her sandwich and took a bite, “Wow these really are crap.”
“Would you prefer...” I cautiously opening my container,“by the looks of it...a soggy omelette?”
“Sure, I’ll swap with ya.”
“Really?”
“Ya, why not.”

The rest of the plane ride passed quicker than I would have thought as Dorian and I picked at our airplane lunches. And before I knew it the plane made another sickening jolt and landed. I was in England!
“Oh my gosh, Are you not so relieved that we didn’t have to sleep on the plane? It’s complete torture.” Dorian said while I tugged my carry-on out of the overhead compartment.
“Ya, sure.”I replied nonchalantly but on the inside I was so excited.
I practically sprinted down the jetway and into luggage retrieval yelling “See ya!” to Dorian and the flight attendants. Almost jumping up and down with excitement I waited for my two big black suitcases to come down the conveyor belt. I lugged them off and unceremoniously dumped them onto the trolley I had already gotten. I walked quickly past security and strode through the glass doors at the exit.
