Sophie's POV:
Sophie had spent the rest of her Good Deeds class attempting to catch Tedros' attention. She had dropped her pen multiple times, resulting to her being so desperate that she actually threw it across the room in order for it to reach him - but instead it hit Beatrix on the head, which, although being amusing to see, was not noteworthy enough for the prince, who continued to gaze out of the window without so much as a glance in her direction. Rude, she thought. It wouldn't hurt him to look at me. She was so lost in thought that she did not notice the greasy-haired, bug-eyed, girl sprinting towards her, ignoring the curious glances from Evers at her dirty black rags. Sophie didn't notice Agatha in fact, until she cartwheeled into her, sending them both careening into the ground.
"Sophie," Agatha gasped, pushing herself upright. "Something strange is happening, I woke up in bed but we'd just been in the Schoolmaster's Tower and we disappeared and I nearly forgot and-,"
"Aggie," Sophie hissed, looking around to see if anyone had noticed their fall, which of course they had, but being the polite Evers they were, were not looking outright, only sneaking peaks every so often. "What are you doing here?"
"I'm here to rescue you, Sophie!"
"Rescue me?" Sophie's voice was climbing, incredulity spreading across her face. "From what?"
"From the school!"
At this, Sophie had had enough. She clambered off the floor and smoothed down her hair, which she had spent so much time carefully combing earlier, only for it to be ruined now.
Or had she?
Sophie always brushed her hair before going to sleep, but feeling the slightly matted locks on her head, Sophie could tell that something was amiss.
"My hair is unbrushed,"
Agatha stood back up too, observing Sophie with a strange look on her face.
"Sophie, didn't you hear what I said? You aren't safe here,"
"I always brush my hair before going to bed. Always. Or it won't be so smooth the next day. It is an essential part of my night-care routine."
Agatha looked even more confused, still not catching on.
"If I didn't brush my hair, then something happened last night, something I can't remember that has prevented me from my regular routine."
Realisation dawned on Agatha's features.
"See, I told you something was wrong! We need to get out of here, quickly, before they discover that we know,"
"Know what?" Sophie replied
"Know... know that..."
"Exactly. We don't know anything, what's going on, why we're here now - no memory of yesterday night, might I add. I think we should pretend that we don't remember anything whilst we try to figure out what happened,"
If Agatha was surprised at Sophie's uncharacteristic display of coherent rationality, she didn't show it.
" I actually think that that's a good idea - we can use the time to investigate the Schoolmaster, as well as possible ways to escape,"
Sophie nodded along in agreement, even as she thought of her ulterior motives. She wanted to stay at the school, after all, it was necessary in order for her to see her step-by-step plan to completion. It currently consisted of: charm Tedros, get picked for his partner for the Snow Ball; become his princess; marry him; live happily ever after - but was still undergoing small adaptations. Although slightly ambitious, Sophie was content to imagine her and Tedros' futures together as she stood in front of Agatha - who was now waffling on about escaping the school, returning to Gavaldon and their old lives. Or something like that. It didn't matter to her- it would never happen anyway.
Sophie was determined to get what she wanted. What she deserved.
