You opened the front door and peeked into your' and Jenna's shared home.

You tightened your jacket around your body before realizing that your girlfriend wasn't anywhere in sight.

So you opened the door completely and went inside.

As you made your way to the staircase, you heard a tiny bark come from inside your jacket

"Shh, baby, it's okay." You comforted as you went up the first step.

And just as you placed your feet on the second one, you heard Jenna's voice coming from behind you.

"Baby, you're home!"

You could tell she was grinning from ear to ear just by the tone of her voice.

Usually, your heart would flutter over it.

But today, it just dropped.

You tightened your jacket a little more before turning to face her.

"Hey, baby." You said before giving her a kiss on her cheek.

"Are you cold?" She frowned as she noticed how tightly you were hugging your jacket to your chest.

"Oh, uh, a little."

"Well, why don't you go up to bed and change into something warmer? You can cozy up under the blankets. I'm just finishing up dinner, I'll bring you some when it's ready."

Feeling the puppy shift around in your jacket slightly, you got a bit antsy and quickly agreed to her suggestion.

"Okay, sounds good."

You turned around to go up to the bedroom but as you took another step, the puppy in your jacket barked, and it caught Jenna's attention.

"What was that?"

"Uh... me."

She shook her head with a laugh.

"Okay." She said before turning around to go into the kitchen.

You breathed out a sigh of relief, but too soon.

Because the puppy barked once more and this time, it peeked its head out from inside your jacket.

And Jenna turned around just in time to see.

"Y/n, why do you have a puppy inside your jacket?"

"I can explain." You said as Jenna stepped closer to you.

"Oh, it's so cute!" She grinned as she gently grabbed the puppy in her hands.

She brushed her nose against its nose and ran her fingers through its soft fur.

"It's a girl. I checked already."

"A girl? Well, aren't you just so adorable!"

"You're not upset that I tried to sneak it in here?"

"What? No. I am a little curious as to how you got this puppy though." She said as she kissed the puppy's head.

"I was driving home when I saw her on the side of the road. I think someone left her there. There was no one around and she doesn't have a collar on."

"Yeah? So you're abandoned, baby? You poor precious little baby." She frowned as she stared down at the precious little puppy who was snuggling up to her.

"Can we keep her?" You asked with a hopeful gaze in your eyes.

"Does she have a name?" She asked as she looked at you.

"I named her Maggie."

"Maggie!" She giggled as the puppy licked her face. "Yeah, we can keep her. We'll have to go shopping after dinner though so we can get you a few things."

"Yay!" You excitedly said before kissing Jenna's cheek.

"Our first puppy together," Jenna said as she looked at you with bright eyes. "The start of our big, beautiful family."

You shared a sweet kiss, only to be interrupted by the adorable bark that came from Maggie.

"Okay, okay. You want some kisses too?" You asked before laying a bunch of kisses on Maggie's soft fur.

Jenna couldn't help but watch with a bright grin on her face and a flutter in her heart.

This was the start of your future together, the first member of a beautiful family that you'd eventually create someday.

And it was absolutely perfect.
