(I kept my word and updated, rip. I have no idea how treatment for a broken nose goes so I just made up stuff in hopes that it was believable 💀)

A little sad.

------------------------------------------

I slowly, and painfully opened my eyes, well eye, as I couldn't exactly see out of the other one. On the bright side, I could breathe again. Not through my nose, but through my mouth. I had tried breathing through my nose, and dear god it hurt. I squinted as I looked up at the ceiling, both from the pain that was now covering the entirety of my face, and from the lack of light. I looked to the side and saw a heart monitor. 'Oh, I'm in the hospital. So, this was real. I really did almost get ra-' I began to think, before I forced my mind to go blank, stopping my thoughts in the process.

Tears welled up in my eyes, and started to slide down the sides of my face. I clenched my jaw, and felt that familiar warm substance start to fill my mouth. Blood. I ignored it, as I clenched at the sheets, and felt something. I started to sit up to see what I had touched, but the prick of the IV in my arm protested against that. I layed back down, and adjusted the IV, before trying again. I sat up slowly, my face all the while began to pulse. After quite a struggle, I leaned back on one arm, propping myself upwards.

I looked down to see König clutching my hand, fast asleep. He had pulled up a chair next to the bed, and was laying his head on my lower legs. The position he was in looked highly uncomfortable for someone of his size, and I was surprised that I hadn't woken him up during my struggle of trying to sit up. I leaned forward, still trying my best to ignore my pulsing face, and brought my arm -the one that was supporting me and holding me upwards- around to prod at his mask, but I didn't get to do that.

I lost my balance, the pulsing in my face had become too much, and I fell backwards into the pillows. The fall Itself didn't hurt, but my face did. I let out a sigh, and stared up at the ceiling. "Liebling...? Are you awake?" König's voice rung out. He sounded tired, very tired. "Um, yeah. Sorry.... If I....woke .... you up." I said, slurring almost every word that came out of my mouth.

'I don't even think he understood what I said.' I thought myself. It even was painful to move my lips. "Are you uncomfortable?" He asked, and I shook my head. After a while, I mustered up the strength to try, and speak again. "Was trying ....to.... sit up." I mumbled as coherently as I could. "Ah, I see. Shhh, please don't force yourself to speak." He whispered. I heard him shuffle, and felt his hand slide underneath my lower back.

He used his free hand that wasn't clutching mine to slowly lift me to sit upright. The lights in the room were dim, but I could see quite clearly. Once I was sat upright again, I could see that his eyes were red, and puffy. He took his time examining my face, and I watched as his sunken eyes began to grow glossy. He dropped his head, and I watched as his huge body began to heave in shuddered bursts.

He was crying.

He squeezed my hand tightly, "Please, don't apologize Bärchen. This....is all my fault." He said, before his voice broke completely, and he began trembling uncontrollably. I sat there in silence, trying to push through the pain in my face. I reached my free hand over to gently rub circles on his shoulder, as it was all the comfort I could provide, while I listened to him sob quietly. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry Liebling. If only I was there sooner I-" He started, before his voice broke yet again. I could tell he was desperately trying to calm himself down; judging by the violent jerks that his body produced.
