in the a.m.

first steps

"walk to me mattie." auston said in a baby voice.

she took 2 wobbly steps before falling down, "youre so close, try again."

i picked her back up, "go to auston."

"come here, you got this matts!"

she started walking, taking a few steps to auston, when she reached him, he smiled and picked her up, "she just took her first steps!"

the 4 of us cheered, "see if adley will."

"walk to steph baby." i said.

adley started taking wobbly steps before getting the hang of it and walking to steph, "oh my goodness girl! you just took your first steps!" steph cheered.

we celebrated together as the girls walked around, occasionally falling.

i facetimed my mom to show her, "hey maggie, im at work so make this quick."

"mom, watch this!"

auston stood adley up, "walk to mama."

she smiled and walked to me, "oh my goodness!"

"watch matties walking too."

mitch tried to get her to walk but she started crying and sat on the ground, "nevermind." i laughed

"thats so exciting! ill have to get them some walking toys now."

"they'll be skating soon." mitch said.

"thats so right! the sooner the better!" my mom laughed.

"alright, ill let you go, i just wanted to show you that they took their first steps."

"thank you for thinking of me! love you 6!" she smiled

a mix of i love you bonnie & i love you mom left our mouths before we hung up.

"they're mobile!" i cheered

"oh my god theyre mobile." i panicked.

"this was going to happen at some point!" mitch shrugged. "i think we should celebrate!"

"how? they're a year old?" steph asked

"it sounded like good idea in my head, but now i realize that theres 4 adults in this "family"." mitch said.

"oh, speaking of family, family skate is next week." mitch said.

"oh maggie we get to go skating!" Steph said.

"why am i going?" i asked pointing to myself.

"because you're my girlfriend." auston said with a duh tone.

"didn't you say family skate?"

"why are so stubborn?" auston laughed.

"you're going." steph said. "the twins are too."

"i dont have skates and i haven't skated since i was little."

"sounds like were going shopping!" steph sang.

"now?" i asked.

"yes." auston answered for me.

"go get ready." he pushed me away.

he followed me into my bedroom, shutting the door.

i picked out a pair of jeans and a sweatshirt, putting those on before fixing my hair.

i put shoes & a jacket on last

i went to walk out of my room when auston stopped me, "hey, i know you dont want this but, youll need it." he said, handing me his card.
