Avery's POV

I'm an ER nurse and I work in the trauma center of the hospital. It was a pretty slow working the night-shift when the ambulance pulled up and in rushed a person in their early twenties.

"What's the situation?" I asked as they brought the patient into the room. There was blood along their head and on the patient's side.

"Car crash. The female's head was hit up against the side door," Wyatt answered as he stared to clean the wound, "She's still out thankfully. I've got a feeling this will not be a painless process."

I checked on my patient. It had been 30 minutes since she was brought in and, according to her phone, her name was Annabeth Chase. The poor girl was still out and Wyatt and I were able to get in stitches in her side and bandage her head. Wyatt was currently checking her for any signs of infection.

I called the Emergency contact on her cell phone. It began to ring.

On the second ring, a boy answered the phone.

"Hey Annabeth," he answered.

"This isn't Annabeth. This is Nurse Avery and I'm calling to inform you about the car accident that Ms. Chase was in. She is expected to be okay," I added as I heard the male's breathing pick up.

"Is she awake? Can I talk to her?" The boy asked hopefully, "My name's Percy Jackson by the way."

"Mr. Jackson, she is not awake. We expect for her to awaken soon. If you would like you may come over to see her," I told the nervous Percy Jackson.

"Yeah... Okay," was my answer and then the line went dead as he hung up.

I glanced over at Wyatt. He looked up at my worriedly. I raised my eyebrows in question.

"No signs of infection but the bleeding isn't stopping either. It's slowing down though, so..."

I nodded grimly as he drifted off.

My eyes rested on Annabeth, her golden hair tinged with red blood in some areas, created a halo around her. Then, we finally got something out of her.

"Percy..." She whispered softly while not awakening.

Wyatt said, "Well, he's in his way... Right?"

I just nodded again.

Knocking on the door only to barge in to Hospital Room 481a was none other than Percy Jackson. With his eyebrows scrunched together and a worried look in his eye, you couldn't help but pity the boy.

He rushed to Ms. Chase's side and sat on her bedside, while Wyatt watched the red line on the heart detector rise and fall at a finally regular pace. Satisfied, Wyatt left Percy and Annabeth to come sit with me at the chair near the sink.

I watched Percy carefully, making sure he wouldn't do anything to accidentally harm the patient Ms. Chase. I was surprised with his gentle tone that he spoke to her in, too low for me to over hear.

I looked at Wyatt. He had shirt cropped sandy hair and his blue scrubs on. His green eyes gleaming with pride as we watched Ms. Chase slowly improve throughout the night until, we decided, that she could be moved from the Trauma Center to the Overnight area to go home the next day.

The next day when Wyatt and I went to check on Annabeth, she was awake, talking to Percy, and looking perfectly fine.

"A dramatic recovery. Just over night like that?" I told Percy and Annabeth, who I found out we're engaged.

"Oh it's the ambros- er I mean, yeah it is weird. But good," Percy said as Annabeth elbowed him.

All was well for the engaged couple. They went home the next day with a doctor's order to take it easy.
