This storm had gotten out of hand, and gone well into the late hours of the night. Even though it wasn't the plan at all, you ended up having to stay with the Phantomhives for the night. Not that you really minded, it was rather nice in the manor and there were quite the cast of characters living inside it.
Although the amount of noise the wind and rain was making meant you couldn't sleep, you lay awake for hours under the warm blankets just waiting for slumber to take you. But nope, the noise was just way too loud. Deciding to take a walk around the manor in hopes of wearing yourself out, you lit a candle in the still dimly burning fire place and took to the halls.
It was a little creepy in the dark you wouldn't admit, it felt like the hallways were haunted by a demon or something. Although the flashes of lightning that lit up the room every so often exposed any and all hiding spots were a demon could be. No demons here, only pristinely cleaned furniture.
As you were walking down the winding halls, you noticed one of the doors slightly ajar and a light from inside. When you approached you found the redhead from before sitting by the fire with the mirror tilted toward her as she tried to detangle her long hair.
Grell was it? You believed so.
With nothing better to do and no chance of sleeping, you knocked on the door to talk to her. She jumped hearing the noise in the quiet, turning to face you.
"Oh it's you, you're still awake?" She asked.
"Can't sleep with all the wind. Figures I'd wander around and find something to do" you replied.
"I'm not doing anything very entertaining darling, just fighting a war with my hair... all that wind and rain messed it up"
You placed the candle on the desk in the room, picking up a hairbrush and sitting beside her.
"Mother taught me a trick for long hair, find the tangle and section it off. Start from the bottom and work your way up" you explained, taking some of her long red hair and doing just that.
She didn't seem to mind your help, her arms were getting tired from all the brushing anyway. That's the only down side to super long hair, it took forever to brush.
"That's smart actually, how did I not think of that..?" She muttered.
"With how the beauty industry is going I think we'll have products just for detangling one day" you replied.
"I sure hope they do, it would make my mornings much easier"
Her clothes that were soaked when she came in were hung up over some chairs by the fireplace to try, she'd stolen one of the nightgowns out of the guest wardrobe to wear instead. In white, a stark difference to her all red attire. But it did suit her.
"You have such long, bright hair. It's beautiful" you complimented.
"Aw, thank you darling. I quite like your plat loops, they suit you" she replied.
"My hair will be nice and wavy by tomorrow"
Managing to get the tangle out of her hair, you ran your fingers though it now silky smooth and free of knots. Her hair was so soft... you could sit here and run your fingers through it for years.
"You are a hair wizard aren't you? Thank you" she smiled.
"No problem, us girls need to look out for each other" you replied.
She seemed a little shocked for a moment, before breaking into a bright smile.
"I'm glad you actually see me as a girl" she said.
"It's obvious, doesn't matter how you are born as long as you're living your truth and you're happy. With your long hair, rosy cheeks and heels it's not hard to tell" you replied.
"I... you seem to be the only one that thinks that"
"I can't believe how behind we still are. For a leading country in economics, technology and opportunities we're still so medieval sometimes"
Perhaps it was because you fancied a beautiful woman yourself, but your views on gender and sexuality were way ahead of their time. It was rare you found someone like you who differed from the norm. That's why Grell showing up at the same time you did was such a nice surprise.
"Between you and me, I think girls are much more beautiful then men" you said.
"I can agree with that. Some men do catch my eye but nothing beats a strong woman" she smiled.
Looks like you both had a lot in common in a way. You were glad you picked the Phantomhive manor to crash in during this storm or you may never have met her.
"Here, let's match" you said, taking the brush and parting her hair down the middle.
Then setting the hair brush aside you wove hair long and lush hair into two plats and pulled them up into loops, secured with a bow. Looking at yourselves in he mirror the two of you couldn't help but giggle like kids at a sleepover trying not to wake anyone else up. Matching hair style, similar nightgowns, similar views on gender... it's almost like it was destiny to meet each other.
Although the smiled were interrupted when out of nowhere the loudest clap of thunder you'd ever heard rang out, making you both jump in fright and instinctively grab hold of each other. Once it fell silent again, you took a moment to feel your hearts race before laughing at each other.
"That scared she shit out of me..." you snickered.
"Where did that even come from?" Grell replied.
It wasn't until the laughter died down you realised you were holding each other, and quickly you separated with red cheeks.
Although you definitely wouldn't mind staying in her arms...
There was a moment of silence as the two of you tried to think of something to break the tension.
"There's... no way we can sleep with noise like that" you said.
"Oh- yes. No sleeping for us. No matter, we can stay up all night and do what we girls do at sleepovers" she replied.
You could definitely get behind that, she was fun to be around and you imagine she'd be even more fun when you're both in a tired, delirious state at 3am.
"That sounds fun. So what first, makeovers? Gossiping? Pillow fights?" You teased.
"Hmm, I was thinking we spill secrets. You know jump right into the juicy stuff" she replied.
Now THAT you were definitely on board with. It's not like you had any scandalous secrets so you didn't mind exposing yourself a bit. And you definitely wanted to know more about Grell so you were totally down to hear her secrets.
"Let's make a deal. What happens in this room stays in this room?" She suggested.
"Deal. Pinky promise?" You replied.
Locking fingers you both shook on it and sealed the deal. This would be a fun night, you could already tell...
