Have you ever just felt like walking forever with no destination in mind?

That's what I am doing right now. Except not walking. Running.

I was running to a certain destination unknown even to me. All I knew was that I had to reach it.

Seconds and minutes passed and I finally arrived. I rested my hands on my knees and attempted to catch my breath.

I looked up and took a hesitant step towards the bushes. I looked around, making sure no one was near me, and entered the forest.

What the hell are you doing, Brinley?

I shook my head gently. There was no time to waste. I was losing daylight.

I quickly maneuvered my way around. When I was certain I reached the correct spot, I reached into the bush and felt for it.

My fingers touched something leathery. I grabbed it and looked.

There it was. My diary. I ran my hand over it, and quickly started to walk out of the forest.

"Brinley, we need to talk," a voice said behind me.

I froze and looked back.

"Nick," I breathed.

"Listen, what you saw-."

I glared, "What I saw was clear. There's no need to explain anything. I thought we already went over this?"

"Brinley, I didn't mean to kiss her."

"But you did. You kissed her, so you obviously wanted it as much as her. I don't want to listen to your excuses, Nick. Sometimes it just gets old."

He was silent for a moment. Almost as if he was thinking of another way to get me to understand something. However, after a couple of minutes of examining me, he turned and walked up the stairs and slammed the door to his room.

I sighed. This has been a stressful day. I really could use some sleep. I turned off all of the lights and headed up to my room.

Once I stepped inside, I locked my door and headed for my pillow. I reached under and grabbed the small leather book.

I took a deep breath, and opened up to the first page.

I began reading things about my childhood. From the scraped knees to leaf projects and field day. I read things about my childhood that I didn't remember. Things that happened, people I've met, and mostly about my bestfriend, Nick.

I stopped after a while. Reading about my life before was giving me a headache.

I hid the leather book underneath my pillows and decided that it would be in my best interest to get some rest.

"Fire!"

I jerked awake and turned over, getting ready to run.

However, my legs were tangled in my bed sheets and I ended up on the floor.

I groaned in pain and remembered that I was meant to be running. I scrambled up and darted for the window.

Suddenly, I heard laughing behind me.

I froze and looked at my intruder.

I sighed, "Maki, was that really necessary?"

She smiled coyly, "Reminds me of our middle school days."

I opened my mouth to respond, but nothing would come out of my mouth.

She gasped, "Oh, I'm so sorry, Brin. I wasn't thinking. It just came out of my mouth. I truly am sorry!"

I waved my hand dismissively, "You did nothing wrong, so don't apologize."

I smiled gently at her, and started walking towards the door. I exited and headed for the kitchen.

"Aren't you wondering why I'm here?" she asked.

"Maki, the only thing I'm wondering is who would be sane enough to wake up this early and be as happy as you.""To surprise you, silly!"

I sighed, "Let me drink coffee before we do any surprising because I can assure you I wouldn't be surprised at all."

"Good to know you still act the same."

I opened a cabinet and grabbed a mug. Then proceeded to make myself some coffee.

I situated myself on the island and laid my head on my arms.

I heard someone moving and a pair of arms wrapping themselves around my waist.

"I've missed you, Brinley."

I turned and hugged her back.

"I'm here and I don't plan on going anywhere. Plus you see me everyday. Aren't you getting tired of me yet?"

She giggled, "Never, Brin."

I smiled and stood to pour myself some coffee.

"What is all this ruckus?" a voice asked from the doorway.

I lifted my eyebrows, "Did you really just use the word 'ruckus'?"

He stared at me and shrugged, "It's an ungodly hour. Leave me be with my language."

Maki suddenly clapped her hands, "Oh yeah! Now I remembered why I was here."

Nick and I both looked at her questioningly.

"I need to talk to both of you."
