Kane suddenly stood up, knocking his chair over in the process, and exited out of the cafeteria.

I looked at him questioningly, but didn't follow.

I looked at Maki and Kole, smiled, and said, "Congratulations!"

"Thank you, Brin. At least we know one of you guys is happy for us," Kole stated.

I sighed, "You know he's happy for you. Just give him some time. He might be a little upset because you, out of all people, didn't tell him first."

He nodded, "Yeah you might be right."

I smirked, "When am I never? Let's be honest."

Maki rolled her eyes, "Shut up."

I stuck my tongue out.

Suddenly, fingers captured my tongue.

What the fuck.

"What have I told you about sticking your tongue out?" a voice asked.

I immediately recognized who it was.

Thankfully, he released my tongue, and it was safely back in my mouth.

"What are you doing here?"

He shrugged, "I ran into Ross while I was walking here. He looked like he wanted to kill someone."

I looked towards Maki and Kole and noticed that they weren't looking into my eyes.

"He couldn't be that upset, could he?" I asked to no one in particular.

"Upset about what?" Nick asked.

I pointed at the couple, "About them being together."

It took a few moments for Nick to reply back. He was looking at Kole disbelievingly.

I glanced at each one of them.

"Okay, what is everyone keeping from me?"

Nick glared at the other Ross twin, "Maybe you should as the dick himself."

I looked at him in shock, "Nick!"

"What? It's true. Why don't you tell her, Kole. Tell her everything."

I turned to Kole with a questioning look. However, he didn't offer any explanation.

I pushed my chair back, stood up, and went in search for Kane.

~

"There you are."

I jumped at the sound of his voice. I didn't turn around, merely nodded and continued my search for Kane.

"You won't find him here, Brin."

"How would you know?"

He grabbed my arm and started dragging me somewhere else.

"I know Kane. In case you haven't remembered yet, he is on the basketball team with me. I know how guys like him think. Trust me."

I relented and let him pull me towards the gym.

There was a loud thud echoing against the floor coming from the gym.

We both entered and found Kane shooting basketballs.

I opened my mouth to call out to him, but Nick covered my mouth.

I looked at him questioningly. However, he only shook his head silently. With his hand still wrapped around mine, I let him pull me to sit on the bleachers.

"What upset him?" I asked quietly.

He sighed, "It's not my place to tell, Brin."

"Nick, please?"

He looked into my eyes, noting the desperation in them and finally relented, "Kole just broke a promise that he made to Kane. That's all I'm going to say.""What promise?"

"That's not my story to tell. If you really want to know, ask one of the twins. Although, I don't think they want to talk to anybody right now."

"But-" I started.

Nick flicked my nose, "No buts. Just give them time."

I sighed and listened to him. We both watched Kane shoot a couple before the bell, signaling that classes are starting, rang.

~

"Kane!"

He turned at the sound of my voice and smiled. He held out his hand. Instead of taking it, I ran into him full force and gave him a hug.

He chuckled but hugged me back nonetheless.

He leaned down and pressed a kiss to my forehead.

I looked up at him and smiled, "Let's go get ice cream."

He chuckled, "You sly little girl."

I chuckled and started dragging him towards his car.

When we got there, Kane looked surprised.

"Brin, how'd you know this was my car?"

I looked at him funny, "Every Tuesday you'd take me home."

He opened his mouth and closed it again. He did this for a couple of minutes before shrugging his shoulders and unlocking the car.

"Your memory is starting to come back," he stated quietly.

I hummed in agreement.

He drove us to the little cafe that I was becoming fond of, went in, and came back out with our order.

After that, he drove towards a park and turned off his car. We sat in silence for a couple of minutes before he decided to break it.

"Between our group of friends, Kole and I promised each other that we wouldn't have feelings for you or Maki."

"Is that why you were upset?"

He nodded, "Then Kole found out that I had feelings for you a couple months back, and accused me of breaking our promise. It ended up into a huge argument. You probably don't remember this yet, but I called you and asked if I could stay at your place for the weekend."

I stayed silent, not wanting to disturb him.

"Don't worry though, Brin. I know you don't feel that way towards me, and I realized I only think of you as a little sister now."

I nodded.

"Do you-," I started, "do you like Maki?" I asked quietly.

He shook his head, "No, I don't."

I released the breath I was holding in.

"I didn't think he would go that far in breaking our promise."

I looked at him sympathetically, and leaned over to hug him.

"It'll be okay. Just be happy for them, Kane."

I felt him nod.

That was all I needed from him.
