We began our project on The American Revolution as Jasper asked me to be his partner. "You've been gone, what happened?" I asked as we looked through the textbook.

"Out of town. For personal reasons," Jasper told me.

I glanced at him but he just leans far away, his face tight. I looked back at my textbook. Then he took a breath, as if trying to calm himself, and turns to me with enormous effort.

"Enjoying the rain?" He asked me.

I chuckled "Seriously? You're asking me about the weather? Kind of a boring topic" I asked him. "It appears," Jasper replied.

"I have a love-hate relationship with the rain," I answered his question.

"I hate it when it is raining for days on end. But I miss the sun." Is that a smile playing on his lips? I thought as I saw him. For the first time, he seems more intrigued than agonized.

He studies me. I wondered if he was doing this because he hates me or not.

"Do I have something on my face?" I asked. Hopefully, my my makeup wasn't smudged. He shook his head and turns his textbook as he wrote some notes down.

I looked at him as I noticed his face. It looks just like a sculpture. I snapped out of it and covered it with a dry look. "It's perfect." Jasper repeated. I glanced at him, and this time saw a smirk.

I chuckled, as we read in silence, Jasper looked at me.

"If you have a love-hate relationship, why move to the wettest place in the continental U.S.?" He asked me.

"It's complicated," I replied. "I think I can keep up," Jasper told me. He seems interested. I read as I answered. "It's not complicated, My dad has a case here. We're here until that's over" I replied.

"We're go back to California"

When the bell rang, I exited as Jasper walked next to me. "I really miss my friends," I told him. "Why didn't you stay in California?" He asked me. He waited for my answer.
