Izuku slowly began to wake up as he heard voices speaking.

"Do you really love my son?"

"Oh, yes."

"Why?"

"First of all, he did the one thing that no one else was able to do: He managed to grab my horns and win. No one else has ever done that before."

"So, what will you do now?"

As the boy slowly began to open his eyes, he noticed that someone was stroking his hair. He felt his head resting against something soft and warm. His eyes finally opened and he saw that his head was in Lum's lap.

...

...

WAIT, WHAT?! His head was in Lum's lap?! He gasped and shot up while blushing heavily.

"Oh, my gosh," he exclaimed. "I am so sorry! I didn't mean to..."

He stopped as he saw Lum smiling at him sweetly. "Oh, Darling," she said. "You're awake. Are you okay?"

Izuku stared at her in shock. "Um... did you just c-call me... 'D-darling?'" He asked nervously.

Lum smiled and nodded. "Of course, I did," said Lum. She noticed the boy blushing and gasped. She placed her hand on his forehead. "Oh, my goodness! Darling, are you sick? You feel very warm!"

Izuku began to stutter as his face turned so red that steam came off of his head. Inko was watching the whole thing and couldn't help but giggle.

"He's not sick, Lum," she said. "He's just flustered. While he has a Uraraka as a friend, he's never had a girl who likes him that much. You're the first one to show affection to him and be this close."

Lum glanced at Izuku's face and saw how timid he looked. "Oh," she said. "I'm sorry, Darling. I didn't know. Are you okay?"

Izuku looked down at his lap and nodded. "Y-yeah," he said. "I-if you don't mind me a-asking, why d-do you call me that?"

Lum took a deep breath and smiled at him sweetly. "Well, you're very different from other males I've met," she answered. "For one thing, you didn't look at me in a perverted way at all. You looked very shy and nervous."

"W-well, I've never had girls who wanted to be with me," Izuku said with a look of shame. "So... yeah. I try my best to n-not be a pervert."

Lum's smile widened. "Awe," she said. "That's so cute!" She giggled as she saw the boy blushing before nuzzling him. "Darling, what are some things that you really like?"

Izuku smiled before answering. "I'm a big fan of society's heroes," he answered. "Firefighters, police officers, even doctors and nurses! I've always wanted to be a firefighter or a police officer!"

"Why is that?" Lum asked, her head tilted with curiosity.

"Because I want to save people with a smile," the boy answered, his smile making the room very bright. "I want to reassure everyone that everything is fine! Because I am here!"

Lum's face became adorned with a blush as she smiled at her beloved's pure heart. She just wanted to snuggle him, cuddle him, and give him lots of kisses! But she held back for now.

"Wow," she said. "You're the opposite of my ex-fiance."

Izuku's smile vanished as he stared at her. "Wait, what?" He asked. "You were engaged once? Why did you break up with him?"

Lum scowled before answering. "All he cared about was food," she said. "Food was the only thing he ever thought of!"

"Whoa," said Izuku nervously. "He sounds like a glutton."

"He really was," said Lum with a small pout.

Inko saw the girl pout and patted her head. "Well, you don't need to worry about my son being a glutton," she said with a smile. "He does his best to make sure that he doesn't eat too much." Her eyes became a little sad. "Though, he doesn't eat well. I think it's the depression that prevents him from eating well."

Lum looked at Izuku and saw that he looked a bit... scrawny. A sad look filled her face. "Oh, Darling," she said as she held his arm gently. She then put on a determined look. "This won't do at all. I'll make sure that you're well fed! That's a promise!"

Izuku blushed a bit. "Th-thanks," he said shyly. "I'm s-sorry if it t-turns out to be a b-burden."

Lum smiled sweetly and patted him on the head, stroking his shaggy green hair. "It's no burden at all," she said. "I want to be able to do this in order to make sure that you're happy. It's the least I can do for you, Darling!"

Izuku's blush deepened. No matter how many times she called him that, he couldn't help but be flustered. However, there was one thing plaguing his mind: He felt that he wasn't good enough for her. His blush vanished as he looked down, looking a bit sad.

Lum noticed his sad face and became concerned. "Darling?" She said softly. "What's wrong?" Izuku didn't say anything. So Lum gently held his face with her hands and tilted his head up so he could look at her.

She looked into his eyes and saw that he appeared to feel insecure. "Darling, please," she said. "Tell me what the problem is. I don't like to see you so sad."

Izuku closed his eyes and took a deep breath. "Why me?" He asked.

"Huh?" Lum looked confused.

"Why me?" He glanced at her before explaining himself. "I'm not very strong like Bakugo. I'm not fast like Iida. I'm not tough like Kirishima. I'm not even as skilled at combat as Uraraka. I don't really have any really remarkable qualities at all. So... why do you consider me to be your 'darling?'"

Izuku looked down at his lap and played with his hands nervously. There was silence for a while. But then, he felt a hand stroking his shaggy green hair.

"What kind of talk is that?" Lum asked. While her voice was still gentle, there was also a hint of sterness in it. "Do you really believe that you have no talent at all? If that's the case, then how were you able to grab my horns?"

Izuku looked up at her in surprise. "Huh?" He asked. "What are you saying?"

Lum gave him a gentle smile. "Well, think about it," she answered. "Maybe you don't have a lot of strength, speed, or agility. But, from what your mother has told me, you do have one thing that a lot of people don't have: A smart mind!"

Izuku's eyes widened at what he heard. Before he could say anything else, Lum raised her hand to silence him. "Most people that I've been up against always tried to use brute force to win," she explained. "And then there's you. You don't look very strong, and yet you managed to win. How did you do it? The answer is simple: You outsmarted me and caught me off guard. So,if people keep telling you that you have no talent, then they probably need to have their brains checked."

To say that Izuku was shocked would be an understatement. He was flabbergasted. Here he was, sitting in front of the girl he had managed to defeat, and she was complimenting his intelligence. The only other people who had said that to him were his mother and his friends. But there was something about the way Lum had said it. He just couldn't put his finger on it.

Lum placed her hands on his shoulders, her smile warm and kind. "I believe that you are more talented than you think," she said. "As of today, I promise to do everything I can to make sure that your life is positive from now on... Darling!"

Izuku was greatly touched by her words. He felt tears welling up in his eyes as he struggled not to cry. He felt Lum hold him in a gentle hug as she rubbed his back. Soon, he couldn't hold it back anymore. As he stayed within the girl's warm embrace, the boy began to cry. While that happened, Lum smiled gently as she held him in her arms.
