Analia

"I sent for the flamekeeper," Indra says when she returns to the temple room. "We need to move Analia to the throne room."

My father stood, his face pale. "Flamekeeper?"

Indra nods. "By Grounder faith, Analia cannot ascend until the sacred ceremony is preformed. A flamekeeper protects the flame, and will protect her."

"Indra," Kane said. "Will this work?"

"Yes, but we have to make it fast," she tells us all, "Azgeda wants war."

No sooner than she spoke those words, what sounded like a stampede headed this way. The noise became amplified in my mind.

Footsteps. Hundreds of them.

Sergeant Miller bursts into the room and locks the doors behind him. "Our cover's blown. We lead as many people out as we could."

My father, Kane and the guards took stance at the door. Octavia and Iko drew out their swords, following Indra's formation.

Bellamy readied his gun, positioning himself between me and the doors.

The footsteps came to a stop.

Bellamy gazed back at me, his stance lethal as he guarded me. "Use the flame."

The doors rocked off its hinges, crashing to the floor. I watched Azgeda soldiers pile into the room, weapons raised. Swords and arrows against guns, but they already outnumbered us.

When Echo centers the room, her expression turned to menace. "Drop your weapons, Skaikru!"

"Wait!" Kane yells, hands raised. "You're making a mistake!"

"Give up your weapons and we'll let your children live."

"There isn't going to be a war, Echo," Iko said, from behind his sword. "There's a nightblood in this temple."

A flash of fear danced in her eyes, but she recovered with a sinister smile. "If that were true, the scouts would have arrived to preform the ceremony. Ontari was the last nightblood, yet Skaikru murdered her."

She made her way to Iko until they were face to face. "Show me a nightblood, or get your people ready for war. I'm done wasting time."
