*A few months later*
"See you later shikamaru" my team waved to me as I walked home. I gave them a simple wave before heading inside.
I was greeted by the most beautiful person in the world. That being my boyfriend neji.
"Welcome home love" he smiled warmly.
"Thanks honey" I sighed as I hung up my coat.
He walked up to me and wrapped his arms around my neck "did you have a rough trip" he muttered into my back.
"Like you wouldn't believe" I sighed "I think the thing I missed most were those simple days of sweet pie and sharing a good book with you"
"Well you're going to love what I got planned for you" he smiled up at me.
"And what's that?" I asked with a hint of amusement.
"I figured you would have missed the simple life and since I know you so well I planned a good story ahead of time and I have pie waiting in the oven"
"Have I ever told you you're the best thing that's ever happened to me" I smirked at him.
"Almost constantly but I never get tired of hearing it" he gave me a peak on the cheek "I'll get the pie out of the oven.
*Time skip*
I sat down on the comfy couch that I missed so dearly. I picked up the book neji left out. It was a hardback. This should be a good read.
Neji came in with two plates of pie. He handed one to me and snuggled down next to me.
I bit into the pie "apple?"
He nodded "it's good isn't it"
"Delicious as always" I kissed him out the forehead.
We spent the entire afternoon reading together. It's not much but to me it's everything. What can I say? I'm a sucker for the simple life.
