Dr Leslie Thompkins was currently fighting Bastet for Katherine's life.

It'd been a while since she'd shut everyone out. Calico wasn't counting the hours or minutes but he knew Nightwing would've been.

The last they saw Katherine, it wasn't looking good for her. Then again, it didn't matter what the outcome of Leslie's efforts would be, it was awful either way.

The clatter of something metal came from behind the privacy curtain, followed by a terrifying silence. Leslie came out from behind the curtain a moment later, covered in Katherine's golden blood.

"What's her prognosis?", Nightwing bravely asked.

Leslie looked between him and Calico, answering, "She's stable, but Bastet may yet decide to take her life. Her healing should fix the rest of her stab wound, provided it was entirely out of her control, but that could still take some time given her current condition."

"And what...what about the..?", Calico trailed off, still unable to say out loud what he'd done. "Do you know when she'll wake up?", he asked instead.

Leslie glanced back at the curtain. "There's no telling just when she'll wake up or what she'll be like when she does." She looked back at Nightwing, assuring, "Regardless what happens when she wakes up, I will be able to assist. She is not beyond saving."

Nightwing sighed, "Thanks, Leslie.", and pulled her in for a hug, ignoring the fact they were both drenched in blood.

Leslie gave him a sympathetic smile, telling him, "If you need anything, call." She turned to Calico and opened her mouth to try and say something to him but couldn't. Nothing could be said.

"Alfred's still away with Bruce. I'll show you out.", Nightwing offered his arm.

Calico clenched his jaw as they left. Since a lot of this was his doing he didn't allow himself to get too upset.

His creation, Catnip, was supposed to be the key to a better life for him and Katherine.

Now it looked like Catnip was the thing that would ultimately steal Katherine from him. Possibly forever.

He wasn't sure he could fix that.

They just had to find a way to move on.

"How bad is it?"

Calico flinched away. He didn't hear Nightwing return. It felt like he'd only just left with Leslie. "The doc gone?"

"Yeah, she's went back to the clinic. She's done with Katherine- when it comes to this, at least."

"But didn't she say..?," Calico shook his head, "Nevermind." He too agreed it was best to let fate decide the rest of the outcome- or Bastet, who'd been more than patient enough with them throughout this.

Nightwing reached out for the curtain and pulled it aside to reveal Katherine. "I've seen her in worse state.", he immediately said upon seeing her.

Calico couldn't say the same. He took in a sharp, shaky breath as he saw her. His little sister, near dead, because of him.

"I told Leslie not to hang around any longer than she needed to.", Nightwing explained why the area looked like a crime scene, "We're cleaning up for her."

Usually blood wasn't something that made Calico feel nauseous but this time he needed to look away. He turned around with his hand covering his mouth, nauseous. "I...I think I- air.", he managed, his eyes wide at what he'd just seen.

"Alright..", Nightwing said, warily, "I guess you're not in the best of shape either. Go clean yourself up, I got it."

"Mh.", Calico nodded, leaving without any recollection of where the nearest shower was.
