Pietrov: "I have to say, it was quite hard to find these, but after seeing the evidence? I'm not sure what to think."

The projector screen of the conference room showed documents and classified files translated from German, with an adjacent screen having Pietrov.

Pietrov: "As you can see from this paragraph, the German Navy did the experiment before we even came up with the idea ourselves."

He highlighted a section that described a collection of DNA samples from a wide variety of people, including civilians.

Pietrov: "Instead of trying to merge a person with a wisdom cube, they used DNA to create clones of people. That implies that a fair amount of the Iron Blood ships are hybrids, like you. Including Friedrich."

The council members turned to look at her. She made no reaction. Y/N continued pacing while infront of the screen. He didn't have to look her way to tell that she was anxious beneath the mask of stoicism, he could feel her eyes following him in curiosity of what he was thinking at the moment.

Y/N: "When did this project start? And how did they get my mothers DNA?"

Pietrov: "The project started about a year after the first Kansen was made. The DNA...I'm not sure how, but...her file was made less than a month after she died."

Y/N came to a halt as her record was pulled up on the screen. Two pictures were in the top corner. One being a headshot, and the other of a body covered by a white sheet.

He stared at it, but didn't show any emotion. To the shock of everyone, they could hardly tell the difference between Friedrich and the woman on screen. The tall seductive woman herself couldn't believe it.

Y/N: "Friedrich? When were you first activated?"

Friedrich: "Ah-...ten years ago."

Y/N: "So two years after the attack. What else can you tell me about this project?"

Pietrov: "Not much else really. Most of the other subjects were military, but the one thing they all had in common was that everyone was German."

Y/N: "What did Hanz say? Did you confront him?"

Pietrov: "What? No. Did you not hear about what happened?"

Y/N: "...What are you talking about?"

Pietrov: "Hanz has been missing for weeks. Last we heard from him was that he was going on a weekend trip to a cottage he owns somewhere off grid. He disappeared."

Y/N was silent as he took more deep breaths. He didn't move a muscle. Kate was scared of saying anything, and so was everyone else.

Y/N: "What was his behavior like leading up to this?"

Pietrov: "He was...anxious...nervous. Would seem to be looking over his shoulder regularly, as if he was watching for something or someone."

Y/N: "Or making sure no one was following him. Thank you, Pietrov. I appreciate your assistance in the issue. Please keep me posted on anything. DIRECTLY."

Pietrov: "Alright. You take care of yourself, soldier. Don't hesitate to call. Commander, you have a good day as well."

Y/N, Pietrov, and Kate saluted before the call ended.

Once the screen went black, everyone stayed in silence. They watched Y/N, as he stood before the blank projector with his back to them. The silence was deafening. No one wanted to be the first to speak, afraid of being met with a threat from him.

Kate took the plunge and tried to lighten the mood, but she was still bad at this kind of thing.

Kate: "Sooooo...ahem!...I guess we don't need that adoption paper, since...well...she's your mom...yay...ehe he...heh.........ehh..."
