They say that red is the colour of love,
like courage and sacrifice
but also danger and war;
But it may feel like green to some,
like healing and peace
with toppings of greed and envy ?
Or perhaps it is a lovely shade of yellow,
like hope and deceit,
mushed in a heavenly pie;
Maybe it is dusky or pitch black,
like power, mystery, evil and fear
all battered into a delicacy meant to tempt.....
Who knows? Surely not you and I,
Perhaps it is all of this,
mixed together in inconsiderate ratios to create the heart throbbing image of bliss;
Perhaps it is none of this,
But just You and I following all the wrong signs
to the peak of unknown in the middle of nowhere;
Perhaps it is a far fetched fantasy or a shell of our imaginations;
Who knows? We'll, the years to come surely do,
So let's march, young and careless
without a doubt and find out the colours of love.
